01-07-1929 Minuteso COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JANUARY 7th, 1929. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January 7th, 1929. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 31st, 1928 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak- ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner adoption of the ordinance and the Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) the same and is numbered 3650. Campbell. the roll. was called on the following vote was had.; Ayes: Nays: (0) The Mayor approved An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for a license or occupation tax on certain occupations, providing a penalty for the violation of this ordi- nance, and repealing ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll_ was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3651. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttdring of Second Street from the north line of Elm Street to the south line off orti otreet and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall. be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the -paving of Republic Avenue from the east line of Fifth Street to the east ane o T ir_ treet and pro- viding for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A n ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and paving of Fifth Street from the north line of Elm Street to the south line of—North Street abd providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the paving of ''vvashin ton Avenue from the west line of Eleventh Street to the wes 1 Ee of'1welft Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and paving of Highland Avenue from the south line of Beloit Avenue to the north line of— C-3 aTTin Avenue,°and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Uampbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. i 1 1 1 1 On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and paving of Oakdale Avenue from the south line of Gypsum Avenue to Kenwood Park Bridge, anTproviding for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for and authorizing the appropriation and trans- fer of certain unexpended balances in certain sub -divisions or de-art- ments of the General Fund to an account designated as the Unexpended Balance Account of the General Fund, and authorizing and directing the transfer of certain amounts from said Unexpended Balance Account to certain other sub -divisions of the General Fund." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A resolution asking our representatives and. senator in the 1929 Kansas Legislature to support a bill to give the city a fair and just compensation for the streets built and maintained by the City, and which are used as a part of the state highway system." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was adopted as reed and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 459. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 103 of Resolu- tion Book Number 2. Mayor Helvering appointed VVm. Muir and Vim. Gardner as Directors of the Cemetery Board for a term of three years from January 1st, 1929 On motion of Commissioner Campbell, appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. Trust Deed was received from Mary Chrysler estate with a de- posit of $100.00. Commissioner Dodds moved that same be accepted and filed, and that the City Treasurer be instructed to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Lot Owners Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Num- ber 3530 of the City of Salina. Motion adopted. Or. motion of Commissioner Campbell the Board of Commissioners adjourned. Citjr Clerk. 5-5 An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and paving of Columbia Avenue from the north line of Ash Street to Riverside Drive, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." 1 1 1 1 On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
