Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, December
11th, 1928. I,2eeting was called to order by Acting I�Iayor Campbell,
the roll was called and Commissioners Campbell and Dodds and
City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Helvering absent.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3188, being an ordinance
dividing the City of Salina into zones or districts and regulating
and restricting the location of trades and industries etc., and the
uses of land in each of such districts or zones, and defining addi-
tional commercial and Light Industrial Districts or zones."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2) .
Nays: (0), Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3632.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and providing for the levy and collection
of a license tax upon certain vending and slot machines, providing
a penalty for the violation of this ordinance, and repealing all
ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and Dodds (2)
Nays: (0) Commissioner Helvering absent. Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 3633.
The following communication was received from the Salina
Street Railway Company:,
APPLICATION FOR BUS ROUTT
To the Hon. Board of City Commissioners,
of the City of Salina, Kansas.
Gentlemen:
The undersigned, The Salina Street Railway Company, re-
spectfully requests your Honorable Body for an ordinance permitting
it to operate a bus in the city of Salina under the terms of its
franchise as follows:
Commencing at -the Lamer Hotel at the intersection of Santa
Fe and Ash Streets; thence west on Ash Street to College Street;
thence north on College Street to Bishop Street; thence east on
Bishop Street to Twelfth Street; thence north on Twelfth Street
to what is known as Highway #40 South; thence northeasterly on
Highway 40 South to Santa Fe Avenue; thence north to St. John's
Military School; thence west to Ninth Street; thence south to
Highway #40 South; thence Southwesterly on Highway 40 South to
Twelfth Street; thence south on Twelfth Street to Bishop Street;
thence west on Bishop Street to College Street; thence south on
College Street to Ash Street; thence east on Ash Street to
Seventh Street; thence south on Seventh Street to Iron Avenue;
thence east on Iron Avenue to Fifth Street; thence north on
Fifth Street to Ash Street; thence east on Ash Street to Penn,
or Ohio Street thence north to elm Street, thence West to Santa
Fe Avenue; thence south to Ash Street to the place of beginning.
The company proposes to give an hourly service over this
route, if this permit is granted, and to meet any other reason-
able requirements.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and regulating excavations in the
streets, allays and other public grounds in the City of Salina,
providing for the method of doing such work and of refilling the
same and of repairing the pavement covering the same and pro-
viding the penalty for the violation of the provisions of
this ordinance.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
Trust Dead was received from Vi. S. Harvey estate, with
a deposit of 4100-00.
Commissioner Dodds moved that same be accepted and filed,
and that the City Treasurer be instructed to place the deposit
in the Gypsum Hill Lot Owners 3ndowmant Fund as provided by
Ordinance No. 3530 of the City of Salina. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, the Board of Commission -
ars adjourned.
