Regular meting of the Board of Commissioners, November
5th, 1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the
roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 29th, 1928
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3614.
City 3agineer submitted Monthly 3stimate Number 1 for
Job 36, contract awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction Company,
August 20th, 1928 for the construction of Sanitary Sewers,, and
on motion of Commissioner Dodds same vias approved by the Board
of Commissioners.
An ordinance vias introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3615.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Section 2 (creating and defining Main
Sevier District "Q") of Ordinance No. 3567 being an ordinance
creating and defining certain main sewer districts in the City
of Salina designated as Main Sewer District "P" and "Q", etc.,
adopted July 2nd, 1928, and repealing original section 2 of
said ordinance."
Onmotion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final a doption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3616.
Mayor Helvering appointed John Frederick, 3. D. Martin
and Ralph A. Smith to act as appraisers for conbttuctina of main
sewer in 1,iain Sewer Districts !P" and "Q"; and for the construction
of lateral sanitary sewer in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts
numbered 143-146-148-150-152 and 155.
Onm otion of Commissioner Campbell appointments were con-
firmed by the Board of Commissioners.
City Planning Commission submitted certain recommendations
to the Board of Commissioners, and on motion of Commissioner
Campbell, same were approved by the Board of Commissioners, and
the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for hearing
1928, at the Commissioners Room in the City Hall of Salina, Kansas.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of
a street light on 3leventh Street, in block between South and
Morrison Avenue. Same was referred to the City Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sidewalk on Marietta Street connecting walks on Chicago Street
on west side of street between State Street and University Place.
Same was referred to the City Manager.

Remonstrances were received protesting against the paving
of :
Center Street from east line of Fifth Street to the
east dintrance to Kenwood Park;
Curbing, guttering and paving Columbia Avenue from the
north side of Ash Street to Riverside Drive;
Curbing, guttering and paving of Connecticut Avenue from
the south line of Iron Avenue to the north line of Gypsum avenue;
curbing, guttering and paving of Fifth Street from the
northl ine of 31m Street to the south line of ort treat;
Curbing, guttering and paving Highland Avenue from the
south line of Beloit tivenue to the nortH line of Claflin Avenue;
Curbing, guttering and paving of Oakdale Avenue from the
south line of Gypsum Avenue to Kenwood Fark Eridge.
All of the above mentioned remonstrances were referred to
the City Attorney.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the Board of Commission-
ers adjourned.
