10-15-1928 Minutes1 1 1 1 COMMISSION RS PROC`23DINGS, R]GULAR M 3 ;TING. COMMISSION RS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. OCTOB3R. 15th, 1928. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, October 15th, 1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minaites of the Regular Meeting of October 8th, 1928 were read and approved as read. Bids as advertised for the construction of Main Sanitary Sewer 'IQ" and Lateral Sanitary Sewers No. 152 and 155, were received from: H. J. Taylor Construction Company, L. W. Rexroad. City 3ngineers estimate of cost for the above named work was presented and read. Commissioner Campbell moved that the contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction Company as per their bid sub- mitted, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract for said improvements; also that certified check be returned by the, City Clerk to unsuccessful bidder. Motion acb pted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3609. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of Sheridan Street from the south line of Crawford Street to the north line of Republic Street." On -notion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: He lvering , Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 455. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 98 of Resolution Book Number 2. A resolution was introduced ebtitled: "A resolution relat- ing to the protection of the City of Salina, from the flood waters of the Smoky Hill River and Dry Creek." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Halve ring , Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num- bered 456. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 99 and 100 of Resolution Book Number 2. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A resolution relat- ing to the contruction, maintenance and operation of 6 inch water pipe line across the right-of-way and underneath the tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad in the City of Salina. it On motion of Commissioner Dodds the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 457. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 101 of Resolution Book Number 2. 14 A petition was presented from residents on the west side of the Missouri Pacific tracks asking for protection from flood waters of Dry Creek. Same was referred to the City engineer. City Engineer filed plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the construction of Storm Sewers numbered 9 and 10, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same were ordered filed. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, the .Board of Commis- sioners adjourned.
