09-10-1928 Minutesr COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. SEPTEMBER 10th, 1928. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, Septem- ber 10th, 1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 4th, 1928 were read and approved as read. Contract Bond and Statutory Bond from the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, for the construction of Main Sanitary Sewer "P", Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 143, 146, 148 and 150; and for Southern Heights Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station, were received, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same were approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of $71,804.82 to pay the cost of improving certain streets and alleys, and constructing certain main and lateral sanitary sewers, and constructing certain storm sewers in said City." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Trust deeds were received from: A. W Leonard, Deposit of §100.00 Janet Allerton Estate " " $125.00 Commissioner Dodds moved that some be accepted and filed, and that City Treasurer be instructed to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Lot Owners Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina. Motion adopted. Petitions were received asking for the paving of Center Street from Fifth Street to entrance to Kenwood Park; also Fifth Street from Elm Street to North Street. Same were ordered filed. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and. estimate of cost for traffic signal system in the City of Salina, and on motion same were adopted by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including Monday, September 17th, 1928 at 4:00 P• M• City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and esti- mate of cost for the construction of Street Department Building, and on motion same were approved by the Board of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including Monday, September 24th, 1928 at 4:00 P• M• Application of Leighton Floral Company to enlarge exist- ing building, or to erect an additional building on same plat of ground with existing building on Iron Avenue between Second and Third Street, under provision of Section 13 of Ordinance Number 3188 was approved, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds such permit was granted. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, the Board of Commis- sioners adjourned.
