Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgen- stern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. i The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 3, 1943 were read and approved as read. i Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1943 received as fol- lows: Carl A. Vineyard Frank J. Tolson Oliver P. Baucom t Cecil Klein Commissioner Price moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Willa D. Mitchell Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted for day driving only. Motion adopted. Application for taxicab license for the year 1943 received as follows: Name of Owner Name of Operator Cab Number A. E. Trexler Bell Taxi Company 20 Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Application was received from George Tibbitts of the Bell Taxi Company, asking for the transfer of Taxicab License No. 21 from 1941 Chevrolet Sedan, Serial Number 25950, Motor Number 489095 to a Studebaker Sedan, Serial Number G182386, Motor Number 205162, Commissioner Moore moved that permission be granted. Motion adopted. j An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and fixing the salaries and wages of certain officers and employees of the City of Salina and repealing Section 8 of Ordinance No, 5025."' On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was oalledand the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Moore, Elliott and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5029. j r Commissioner Elliott moved that the date of prohibiting parking stands fo- taxicabs on the public streets of the City of Salina be changed f rom June let, 1943 to May 15th, 1943, and prohibiting the use of taxicab telephones at public taxicab stands heretofore existing on Ash Street at the Lamer Hotel and Miller Drug Store, and at the northwest corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Walnut Street (Grand Theatre Build- ing.) Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance prohibiting parking stands for taxicabs on the public streets of the City of Salina and amending Section 22 of Ordinance No. 4952 and repealing original Section 22 slid Sections 25 and 26 of Ordinance No. 4952." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinanceand it is numbered 5030. A communication was received from D. K. Fitch, Chief of Police, relating to a fight at Jack's Well, a beer outlet at 142j North Santa Fe Avenue. Ordered filed. A letter was received from H. W. Thomas, Supervising Engineer of the Federal Works Agency, Defense Public Works Division, asking if the City of Salim has any school, hospital, waterworks, sewer or sewage disposal problem as a result of the influx of population caused by the location of the Army Camp and Air Base near Salina. Letter was referred tothe Board of Education of Salina, Kansas. Applications for Pool Hall license for the first half of 1943 received as follows: John S. Gordon Matt Price Commissioner Price moved that applications be approved and license granted.
