03-15-1943 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISS LONERS ROOM, _ SALINA. KANSAS. MARCH 15, 1943 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 15, 1943. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Breon and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Perm absent and Commissioner Branson deceased. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 1, 1943 were read and approved as read. follows: Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1943 received as Russel R. Bross Lawrence M. Talley Ben Cain Commissioner Breon moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of West Claflin Street from Ninth Street to the Cloud residence, Salina, Kansas. Petition was referred to the City Dagineer. Applications for two taxicab licenses received from John E. Hull. Com- missioner Price moved that applications be approved by the Board of Commissioners subject tot he approval of the 0. D. T. Motion adopted, ;a Y Application for Pool Hall License for the first half of 1943 received as follows: Name of Applicant Name and Place of Business Address William Basgall Fifth Street Recreation 113 North Fifth Street. Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Applications for Cereal Malt Beverage License for the year 1943 received as follows: Application Number Name of Applicant Name and Location of Place of Bus ness 57 William Basgall Fifth Street Recreation 113 North Fifth Street 58 Fred Clar Uptown Bar 216 West Ash Street Commissioner Price moved that application received from William Basgall be approved and license granted. Motion a dopted. Commissioner Price moved that application received from Fred Clar be held over for further consideration. Motion adopted. Combination Gas Fitters and Plumbers Bonds were received from Waldo Plumbing and Heating Company and from A. C. Oppeilander. On motion of Commis- sioner Breon bonds were approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon and Price (3) Nays: (0) Commissioner Perm absent and Commissioner Branson deceased. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-192. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Breon the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon and Price (3) Nays: (0) Commissioner Perm absent and Commissioner Branson deceased. Mayor approfed the ordinance and it is numbered A-193. The following recommendation was received from the Waterworks Advisory Board: March 13, 1943 "We, the members of the Waterworks Advisory Board recommend the laying of 6" water mains in the following streets in order to serve the proposed Federal Housing projects: 6" water main on Fairview, 11th to Sherman, 470 ft. 6" cast iron pipe laid @1.60 - - - - - - $762.00 6" water main in Kirwin Avm ue, 4th to Osborne south in Osborne to Claflin, 995 feet 6" cast iron pipe laid @ 1.60 - - - - - - - 1592.00 6" water main in Montrose, Morrison to Prescott 760 ft. 6" east iron pipe laid @ 1.60- - 1216.00 6" water main in College Avenue, Morrison to Prescott, 760 ft. 6" cast iron pipe laid @1.60------ ---- ----- --- 1216.00 6" water main in Tenth Street, Wilson to Republic 673 ft. 6" cast iron pipe @ 1.60 1076.80 3658' Total estimated cost - - - - - - - -$ 5862.80 WATERWORKS ADVISORY BOARD F.
