Meeting was called to o-rder'by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Commis- sioner Breon absent. as read. lows: The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 15, 1941 were read and approved Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1941 received as fol - Sereno L. Bartell Vernon D. Hays Stanley Ray Commissioner Price moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-126. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to issuance of Temporary Note in the amount of $2500.00 (W.P.A. Project Number 8254-4)." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgen- stern, Branson, Ferm and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent. Mayor Ap- proved the resolution and it is numbered 812. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 184, Resolution Book Number 3. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-127. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes by the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1941." On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read acid adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5003. The matter of purchasing an eight -inch pump and motor to be used at the Sewage Disposal Plant to replace the present six-inch pump and motor was taken up and discussed by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Branson moved that the purchase of an American 8"x8" SSK Figure 5135 Vertical I�TON-CLOG sewage pump, and one 30 H.P. 875 rpm, 3 phase, 60 cycle 220-440 volt, vertical solid shaft motor to fit the present motor stand, from the American Well Works of Aurora, Illinois for the sum of x;964.00, after allowing for trade in of used pump and motor, be authorized, and that the City Manager be authorized to make such purchase, if, on investigation from other manufacturers he determines that the price for such pump and motor less trade in allowed is comparable with the prices of such other manufacturers.
