COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISS IONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JULY 28, 1941.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 28, 1941. This being
the eighty-fifth birthday anniversary of Ex -Mayor R. P. Cravens, who was present,
Mayor Morgenstern relinquished the chair and Ex -Mayor Cravens presided.
The roll was called and the following answered to roll call; Morgenstern,
Branson, Breon and Ferm and City Attorney Norris. Commissioner Price absent.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 21, 1941 were read and approved
Applications fort axicab drivers license for the year 1941 received as
F. A. Neel
Verney Ray
Commissioner Ferm moved that application received from F. A. Neel be
approved and license granted; and that application received from Verney Ray be
granted subject to the approval of Chief of Police. Motion adopted.
J. H. Coffman appeared pursuant to order made at the meeting of Board
of Commissioners on July 21, 1941, and notice served on him on July 22, 1941, for
hearing on revocation of Cereal Malt Beverage License No. 7265 issued January 21,
1941, to J. H. Coffman, d/b/a "Jack's Well" at 1422 North Santa Fe Avenue, in
Salina, Kansas, on account of his conviction in the Police Court for drunkenness
on July 17, 1941. A statement to the Board of Commissioners was made by
J. H. Coffman. Commissioner Ferm moved that a stay of three weeks be granted,
and that the license be revoked, effebtive on August 18, 1941. Motion adopted.
J. J. Spaeth of the Wyatt Manufacturing Company, appeared before the
Board of Commissioners and asked for the vacation of alley lying between Fifth and
Fourth Streets, a distance of 150 feet north of North Street. Commissioner Breon
moved that request be granted and City Attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance
providing for the vacation of such alley. Motion adopted.
J. J. Spaeth of the Wyatt Manufacturing Company, appeared before the Board
of Commissioners and asked for a permit to construct an eight -inch instead of a
thirteen -inch cement block building on Lotti-,. Tweltb (12),j`.Fourteen (14) and Sixteen
(16) Fifth Street, Original Townsit e, Salina, Kansas, known as 512 North Fifth
Street. Commissioner Branson moved that permission be granted. Motion adopted.
W. C. Thorne asked for a permit to construct a frame and sheet metal
addition to his store on the corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Decatur Street. Commis-
sioner Ferm moved that permission be granted. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Branson the Board of Commissioners adourned
to meet Friday, August 1, 1941 at 12 o'clock noon.
