05-12-1941 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, ( SALINA, KANSAS. MAY 12, 1941. i Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 12, 1941. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the rollvas called and Commissioners Morgen- stern, Branson, Breon and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Ferm; J absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 5, 1941 were read and approved as a ! read. Attorneys E. H. Linville and H. N. Eller of the Bar Association, appeared before the Board of Commissio m rs in regard to "I Am An American Day", May 18, i 1941. Commissioner Branson moved that the Mayor issue a proclamation designating { May 18, 1941 as "I Am An American Day". Motion adopted. 4 ' i i Standard Oil Company submitted plans for new filling stations to be erected on the corner of Crawford and Ninth, also on the corner of Ohio and Iron Avenue. Plans were approved by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of Eighth Street from the north line of Harsh Street to the south line of Hamilton Street; Tenth Street from the i center line of Wilson Street to the north 300 feet to connect with the existing i curb and gutter; Ei hth Street from the center line of Grand Avenue tot he center line of Woodland Avenue; a portion of Funston Street between Republic Avenue and Sunset Drive; a portion of Highland Circle between Ellsworth Avenue and Jewell Avenue; a portion of Pershing Avenue between Republic Avenue and Beloit Avenue; a portion of Second Street lying north of Iron Avenue; and for the paving of the alley lying between Santa Pre Avenue and Seventh Street from the south line { of Ironer to the north line of Walnut Street, and providing for the cost of such improvements and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- t ions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner i Ferm absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 4998. I City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for concession privileges in Oakdale Park during the Swimming Pool season of 1941. Bids to be received Monday. May 19, 1941 at 4:30 P. M . I j On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned to meet in Regular session Thursday, May 15, 1941 at 11:55 A.
