COMMISSIONERS ROOM,

APRIL 21, 1941.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 21, 1941. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners
Morgenstern, Branson, Farm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Commis-
sioner Breon absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 14, 1941 were read and approved
by the Board of Commissioners.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1941 received
as follows:
Harold LKizer
John W. kkefield
Harry L. Hickman
Commissioner Price moved that applications be approved and license
granted. Motion adopted.
Combination Gas Fitters and Plumbers Bond received from Melville R.
Powell, Commissioner Branson moved that same be approved by the Board of Com-
missioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropria-
tion for the payment of certain claims."
Commissioner Farm moved that the two claims for the Clerk of the District
Court amounting to $56.35 and $37.45 respectively, be stricken from the ordinance
and that such claims be referred to the City Attorney for investigation. Motion
carried.
On roll call the ordinance was adopted as amended by the following
vote: Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Form and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Breon absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-111.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of Montrose Street from the south
line of Charles Street to the north line of Crawford Street; econd tract from the
north line of Ash Street tot he south line of Elm Street; Republic Avanue from
the east line of Sheridan Street (on the north side of Republic) and from the east
line of Funston Street, an extension of Sheridan Street, (on the south side of Republic)
to the west line of Sherman Street (on the north side of xepublie) and to the east
line of Pershing Street, an extension of Sherman Street (on the south side of
Republic); Venan o Street from the west line of Sherman Street to the east line
of Custer Street; Wilson rest from the east line of ghermahl-, Street to the
west line of Eleventh Street; and for the paving and grading of thealb between
Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street from the south line of Ash Street to the north
line of Iron Avenue, and providing for the cost of such improvements and how the
same shall be assessed and the payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had: Ayes% Morgenstern, Branson, Farm and Price (4) Nays: G0) Commissioner
Breon absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is. numbered 499
An ordinance was introduced on first reading entitled: "An ordinance
defining the manner and place of construction of the lines of the Southwestern
Bell Telephone Company and prescribing the terms and conditions under which said
lines shall be constructed, reconstructed and maintained, and providing for com-
pensation to be paid the City of Salina, Kansas, by the Southwestern Bell Telephone
Company." Ordinance referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Agreement between the City of Salina., Kansas and the Salina Municipal
Band dated January 1, 1941, for services of the band for the year 1941, as recommend-
ed for approval by the Trustees of the Salina Municipal Band Fund, was presented
and read. Commissioner Ferm moved that the contract tot ake effect as of
January 1, 1941 , be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that the Mayor be
authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned to
meet in regular session Thursday, April 24, 1941 at 11:50 A. M.
