04-14-1941 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. APRIL 14, 1941. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 14, 1941. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Breon and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioner Ferm absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 7, 1941 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab Drivers license for the year 1941 received as follows: Lloyd Cook James T. Mitchell Commissioner Breon moved that applications be approved by the Board of Commissioners and license granted. Motion adopted. Chas. Ireland appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked per- mission to transfer his Beer License from 100 South Olive to 1206 North Ninth Street. Commissioner Breon moved that permission be granted. Motion adopted. The following report relating to the rezoning of Lots 1 and 3 Block 46, Military Addition and Lot 20, Block 44, Military Addition was received from the City Planning and Zoning Commission: Salina, Kansas. April 14, 1941. Hon. Mayor and Commissioners City of Salina Salina, Kansas. Gentlemen: City Planning and Zoning Commission at a special meeting at 1:15 P. M. Saturday afternoon, April 1, considered two petitions for tre rezoning from residential to commercial zone - one petition being the rezoning of Lots 1 and 3, Block 46, Military Addition, the other being Lot 20, Block 44, Military Addition, The Commission, in considering these petitions, favorably recommends to the Honorable Mayor and Commissioners favorable consideration on each petition. Respectfully submitted, CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION Chas. H. Bren Secretary Commissioner Branson moved that report be accepted by the Board of Commissioners and that the City Clerk publish the required thirty day notice of amendment to Zoning Ordinance to provide for the changes above referred to. Motion adopted. G. E. Jukes appeared before the Board of Commissioners and requested permission to move a store building from Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific to Lot 20, Block 44, Military Addition. On motion duly carried the request was granted and building Inspector was authorized to issue moving permit. James Harrington asked permission to place a steel building on Lot 10, Block 9, Pacific Addition. Commissioner Branson moved that permission be granted with a set -back of not less than 1 foot. Motion adopted. A communication was received from Chas. E. Hawkes, Superintendent of Salina Public Schools, relative to the use tat the Public Schools might be able to make of Agricultural Hall, in case the hall were to be altered as per the plans presented by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Lamb, for Salina Concession Stand on Baseball Ass'n., Inc. Baseball grounds in Kenwood Park, Commissioner Price moved that application be rejected by the Board of Com- missioners. Motionadopted. l An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon and Price (4) Nays: (0) Com- missioner Ferm absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-110. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of Montrose Street from the south line of Charles Street to the north line of Crawford Street; Second Street from the north line of Ash Street to he south line of Elm Street; Re ub is t Avenue from the east line of Sheridan Street (on the north side of Republic) and from the east line of Funston Street, an extension of Sheridan Street, (on the south side of Republic) to the west line of Sherman Street (on the north side of Republic) and tot he east line of Pershing Street, an extension of Sherman Street (on the south side of Republic); Venango Street from the west line of Sherman Street to the east line of Custer Street; Wilson Street from the east line of Sherman Street to the west line of Eleventh Street; Republic Avenue from the west line of Tenth Street to the east line of Eleventh treet; and for the paving and grading of the alley between Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street from the south line of Ash Street to the north line of Iron Avenue and providing for the cost of such improvements and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." Ordinance referred to the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Branson moved that the City purchase a No. 201 Galion Maintain- er 46 H.P. +°.eight 17,000 , for a cost of not to exceed $3365.00.
