Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners December 9, 1940.
Meeting was called to order by !0ayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commis-
sioners Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Fern and Price and City Attorney Norris re-
sponded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 2, 1940 were read and
approved as read.
TAr. J. W. Sprout presented plans for building, to be; erected on the South Forty
feet of Lot Five (5) Block Eleven (11) Pacific Addition to the City of Salina, Kan -
sas. Commissioner Breon moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Motion adopted.
City Engineer reported that the time limit on resolutions passed by the
Board of Commissioners for paving, curbing and guttering has expired and asked
for the intrduction of ordinances for the following streets and for the curbing,
guttering and paving alley:
Curb and Gutter:
Second Street from the north line of Ash Street to the south line of Elm
Street, as provided for in Resolution Number 788.
Republic Avenue from the east line of Sheridan Street (on the north side
of Repub is) and from the east line of Funston Street, an extension of Sheridan
Street (on the south side of Republic) to the west line of Sherman Street (on the
north side of Republic) and to the east line of Pershing Street, an extension of
Sherman Street (on the south side of Republic), as provided for in Resolution
Number 789.
Montrose Street from the south line of Charles Street to the north line of
Crawford Street, as provided for in Resolution Number 786.
Venango Street _from the west line of Sherman Street to the east line of
Custer Street, as provided for in Resolution Number 793.
Milson Street from the east line of Sherman Street to the west line of
Eleventh btreet, as provided for in Resolution Number 794.
Republic Avenue from the west line of Tenth Street to the east line of
Eleventh Street on the north. side), as provided for in Resolution Number 795.
Paving:
Alley lying between Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street from the south line
of Ash Utreet to the north line of Iron Avenue, es provided for in Resolution
Number 791.
Commissioner Ferm moved that report be approved by the Board of Commission-
ers. TAotion adopted.
Commissioner Ferm moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract on
behalf of the City of Salina, with the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company of
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for one 12 x 10 Type SG Centrifugal Pump direct connected
through flexible coupling to one 200 Ti. P., 2300 volt, 3 phase, 60 cycle, squirrel cage
motor operating at 1750 R.P.M and including one reduced'voltege starter. 14otion
adopted.
City 'F�rigineer recommended the construction of the following named sewers:
Lateral Sanitary Sewer 187-A is an 8" sewer in the alley running north and
south between Fourth and Fifth Streets from manhole in center of Forest Avenue to
a manhole 240 feet south of the south property line of Forest Avenue.
L t r l Sanitary cs; r id;} is an 8" sewer located in the alley running north
and south between Second and Third Streets from the south line of Pacific Avenue to
a manhole in Forest Avenue, a distance of 1165 feet.
Wilson Street Sanitary Relief Sewer shall be constructed to relieve the
present 8 sewer from the sewer pumping station at the corner of Wilson and Sherman
Street, to other distribution points in the sanitary sewer system.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm recommendations were approved by the Board of
Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Application was received from G. 2. French of the DeLuxe Cab Company,
asking for the transfer of Taxicab License slumber 10 from 1939 Plymouth
Sedan, Motor No. P8-378462, Serial No. 10854708 to 1941 Plymouth Sedan, Motor
P12-48641, Serial No. 20109543. On motion of Commissioner Branson application
was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned
to meet in Regular Session, Saturday, November 14th at 12 o'clock noon.
