09-09-1940 Minutes1 1 1 L COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR PTING COMMIISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. SEPTEMBIIR 9, 1940 Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners September 9, 1940. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 3, 1940 were read and ap- proved as read. Mr. E. S. Hampton, appeared before the Board of Commission rs and asked per- mission to place a temporary sign on front of building located at 128 North Santa Fe Avenue and occupied by the Republican Headquarters. Commissioner Ferm moved that permission be granted. Motion adopted. Mr. J. E. Hull appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked permis- sion to start a new cab company under name of "400", with the understanding that the Yelloway Cab Company name would be discontinued and taxicab licenses issued to Yelloway Cab Company now operated by J. E. Hull would be cancelled when the new company is started, and new taxicab licenses applied for. Permission was granted by Commissioner Breon. Mr. Harry Roberts and Mr. Ray Gebhart appeared before the Board of Commission- ers in regard to proposed change in ordinance requiring vents for gas stoves. No action was taken. Mr. Ross Bratton and Mr. Alex H. Miller his attorney, and a number of resi- dents and property owners on Niorrison Avenue, including Mr. C. P. Brown, Mrs. 0. F. Gross and Miss Morrison, appeared in connection with the petition to vacate alley running from Ninth to Tenth Street south of Morrison Avenue. Action on the peti- tion was deferred. Mr. Frank Bricker appeared before the Board of Commissioners re§arding alley and cutting of curb on Lot 11, Block 1, Wights Addition to the City of alina, Kansas. Commissioner Breon moved that the City out the curb and that Frank Bricker pay the sum of $30.00 for new drive from curb to sidewalk. Motion adopted. Commissioner Price moved that special parking privileges to non-residents, physicians and others be discontinued after Nov enb er 1, 1940. Motion adopted. A communication was received from Chief of Police Fitch, informing the Board of Commissioners of the conviction in District Court of Dan Shore, doing business as Ur -Way Sandwich Shop, for having liquor in his possession. Commissioner Breon moved that the City Clerk give Dan Shore a five day of a hearing to be held by the Board of Commissioners on September 16, 1940 at 4:30 P. M. for the purpose of deter- mining whether or not the Cereal and Malt Beverage License issued to said Dan Shore on January 8, 1940 should be revoked as provided by late and by Ordinance Number 4741 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Branson moved that the Chief of Police notify the following taxicab owners to renew their taxicab insurance and to make application for licenses or for transfer of license: #10, De Luxe, #12, DeLuxe, #6, Yelloway #30, Bell, #23, DeLuxe, #34, DeLuxe, #21, Bell, #17, Bell, Motion adopted.
