AUGUST 19, 1940.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 19, 1940. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners
Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 12, 1940 and Regular Meeting
of August 15, 1940 were read and approved as read.
Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1940 received from:
Alfred D. Burnley
Commissioner Fern moved that application be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Form and Price (5) Nays: (0) mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered A-83.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of cutting
weeds on certain lots and parts of lots, and the parkways abutting thereon in the
in the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was reed and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had, Dyes:
1.1orgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and "rice (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 4977.
An ordinance was introduced on second reading entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes by the City of Salina,
Kansas for the year 1940."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nanc e and it is numbered 4978.
A resolution was introduced entitled: I.A Resolution relating to special
assessments levied under Ordinance No. 4940."
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was read and adopted as read
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm, and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the resolution and it is numbered 798.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 170, Resolution Book Number
3.
A petition was presented asking for the vacation of the alley lying between
Ellsworth Avenue and Jewell Avenue from Highland Avenue to Ninth Street. Referred
to the City Engineer.
Two letters relating to the employment of a City Inspector of Foods and
Sanitation in the City of Salina, were received from the Rotary Club of Salina,
Kansas. Same were ordered filed.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
