Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 5, 1940. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Afor-
genstern, Branson, Ferm and Price and City Attoeney Norris responded. Commissioner
Breon absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 29, 1940 and Regular Meeting of
August 1, 1940 were read and approved as read.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1940 received as fol-
lows:
Leonard Mayo
Arthur Spohn
Commissioner Ferm moved that application received from Leonard Mayo be approved
and license granted; and that application received from Arthur Spohn be rejected and
that deposit of $1.00 be refunded on account of applicant not being a resident of
Salina. Motion adopted.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading the north side of Republic Avenue _
from the west line of Tenth Street to the east line of 'Eleventh Street.
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent.
Vs.yor approved the resolution and it is numbered 795.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 166 of Resolution Book
Numb er 3.
Trust Deed, with a deposit of $100.00 for the perpetualc are of Lot 7,
Block "D" in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas, was received from
B. A. Strickler, guardian of Ida Dihle.
Commissioner Branson moved that Trust Deed be accepted by the Board of Com-
missioners and that the City Treasurer be instructed to place the deposit in the
Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the
City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted.
City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the paving of the unpaved
portion of Broadway Boulevard from the west line of Ninth Street at the intersection
of Ninth and Pacific to a point 248 feet south of the south line of North Street.
Bids to b e received up to and including Monday, A rust 12, 1940 at 4:30 P. M.
Motion adopted.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the certification by the City Clerk to the County Clerk of special
assessments and the interest rates thereon." Referred to the Board of Com-
missioners.
City Manager Brown submitted to the Board of Commissioners the tentative
budget for the year 1941. On motion of Commissioner Branson, Thursday, August
152 1940 at 7:30 P. M. was fixed as the date for public hearing on said budget as
provided by law. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
