Regular neetin.g of the Board of Commissioners July 1, 1940, Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners
Morgenstern, Branson, Perm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Com-
missioner Breon absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 24, 1940 were read and approved
j as read.
Commissioner Price moved that the Zoning Ordinance be amended to grant a
set -back of eight (8) feet from Santa Fe Avenue on the Harvey lot, being the
north fifty feet of Lot 1, on Santa Fe Avenue in Holland's Addition, and that the
proposal to amend the ordinance be submitted to the City Planning Commission for
their consideration and recommendation as provided by law. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon
absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-78.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of Wilson

Street from Sherman Street to Eleventh Street. Ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced on first reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of Wilson Street from the
east line of Sherman Street to the west line of Eleventh Street. Referred to j
I the Board of Commissioners.

j Applications for Pool Hall License for the last half of 1940 received
as follows:

Commissioner Branson moved that applications be approved and license
granted. Motion adopted.
An agreement was entered into between the Union Pacific Railroad Company
and the Citv of Salina in reference to leasing certain premises owned by the
Union Pacific Railroad Company to the City of Salina to be used for the storage
of rock.
On motion of Commissioner Perm, Mayor was authorized to sign said agree-
ment on behalf of the City of Salina. Motion adopted.
Notice of cancellation of insurance policy received from Insurance
Company. Moved by Commissioner Price that Taxicab Number 5 and Taxicab Drivers License
Number 50 issued to J. E. Hull be revoked, and that the City Clerk notify J. E.
Hull of action taken by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
A communication was received from Dr. E. M. Sutton, Saline County Health
Officer, in reference to regular food and sanitation inspection of all food handling
establishments within the City of Salina. Same was ordered filed.
On motion of Commissioner Price, City Clerk was instructed to advertise
for the sale of $6,342.49 Internal Improvement Bonds, dated March 1, 1940, bearing
interest at the rate of 1-3/4% per annum, said bonds to be placed on sale at the
office of the City Clerk, Galina, Kansas, on July 8, 1940 at 4:30 P. M. Motion
adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
