Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Fern, the roll was called and Commissioners Ferm, Branson and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioners Breon and 'Morgenstern absent. The minutes of the Re-ular T.reeting of Jure 17, 1940 vrere read and approved a s read. The matter of granting a permit to Dtile Richman for the erection of a building on the Harvey lot, located on the south-east corner of Santa Fe Avenue and South Strc,et was taken up b;. the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Branson moved that a permit be granted providing the set -back recrulations on Santa Fe Avenue are complied with. Motion adopted. Mrs. J. B. 14eckling asked permission to transfer her Beer License from 332 North Santa Fe Avenue to 336 North Santa Fe Avenue. On motion of Commissioner Brunson permission was granted. Motion adopted. An ordinancewa.s introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance i grv�.ting to The Kansas Power and Light Compeny, a Kansas corporation, its success- ors and assigns, the right to occupy and use the streets, avenues, alleys, bridges, parks, parkings and other public places in the City of Salina, Kansas, for the purpose of selling and distributing electrical energy to the City of Salina, Kansas, j and its inhabitants and through said City and beyond the limits thereof, prescrib- ing the terms thereof and relating thereto, and repealin all ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with or in conflict with the terms hereof." On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ferm, Branson and Price (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Breon absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4975. An ordinance was introduced for second reading enti+,led: "An ordinance providing for and authorizing the issuanc e of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the shin of $6,932.49 to pay the cost of improving certain streets in said City, to be designated as Series P-125." On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ferm, Branson and Price (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Breon absent. Acting Prayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4976. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to t he curbing, guttering and grading of Venango Street from the west line of Sherman Street tothe east line of Custer Street. On motion of Commissioner Branson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ferm, Branson and Price (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Breon absent. Acting Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 793. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 164, Resolution Book Numb er 3. City Engineer reported that the remonstrance against the curbing and puttering of Second Street from Ash Street to Elm Street is insufficient.
