05-27-1940 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. F COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. MAY 27, 1940. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 27, 1940. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgen- stern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. I The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 20, 1940 were read and approved as � read. Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1940 received as j follows: Warren L. Mansfield i Commissioner Ferm moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Bids for Refreshment Privilege in Oakdale Park during the Swimming Pool Season of 1940 received as follows: Rolland Nelson - - - - - - - $201.76 Jim Sarvis - - - - - - - - - 152.50 Salina Nut Shop - - - - - -- 201.00 ! Commissioner Ferm moved that bid be let to the highest, responsible bidder. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4693 as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4964 and repealing said original section." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4972. ? f Application was received asking for the transfer from Yelloway Cab Number 5, j Motor Number D14-14356, Serial No. 435305,0 to DeLuxe Cab Companv. Co mmissioner 1 i Breon moved that application be granted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Notice of cancellation of taxicab insurance of taxicab policy covering taxicab No. 32, owned by Orville Hare, for Studebaker Sedan, Motor Number 1557236, was received. Commissioner Price moved that license of the above named party i be cancelled, said that he be notified by the City Clerk of such cancellation, and ` that the Chief of Police notify Mr. Hare to cease operation of such taxicab. ? Motion adopted. ? A petition was presented asking for the paving of the alley lying between Seventh Street and Santa Fe Avenue from Iron Avenue to Ash Street. Petition re- f ' ferr ed to t he City Engineer. r An ordinance was introduced on first reading entitled: "An ordinance relat- ing to projecting or hanging signs." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. Mayor 1viorgenstern. submitted the name of Wayne Dailey as a member of the j Cemetery Board to fill vacancy created on account of the den th of Theo. P. Worsley, Jr. On motion of Commissioner Ferm appointment was confirmed by the Board j of Commissioners.
