04-29-1940 MinutesCOMMISSION<H2S PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. APRIL 29, 1940. i Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 29, 1940. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. i The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 22, 1940 were read and approved as read. Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1940 received from: Lloyd K. Lamb Commissioner Ferm moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted, Application was received from G. E. French, owner and DeLuxe Cab Company, Operator, for the transfer of Cab No. 1, from Chevrolet Sedan, Serial No. 5FA04-23729, Motor No. 6253353, Model 1936, to Pontiac Sedan, Serial No. P6HA41533, Motor No. 6696106, Model 1940. Commissioner Branson moved that application be granted. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of Oakdale Avenue from the north line of Ash Street to the south line of Elm Street; Tent Street from the center line of Pacific Avenue to the center line of Harsh Avenue; Frost Street from the west line of Eleventh Street to the east line of Sherman Street; Brown Street from the west line of Eleventh Street to the east line of Sherman Street; Tenth Street from the south line of Franklin Street to a point 300 feet south o the south line of Franklin Street; and for the paving and grading of the alley lying between Santa Fe Avenue and Fifth Street from the south line of Ash Street to the north line of Iron Avenue, and providing for the cost of such improvements and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Branson, Ferm and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 4970. An ordinance was introduced on first reading entitled: "An ordinane e repealing Ordinance No. 4872 and Ordinance No. 4804 as amended by Ordinance No. 4872, relating to examination and certificates of plumbers, and creating a Board jof Examiners of plumbers." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Engineer reported favorable on the petition asking for the curbing and guttering of Second Street from Ash Street to Elm Street and moved that samebe approved. A resolution was introduced on first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of Second Street from the north line of Ash Stre ;t to the south line of Elm Street. Referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of Republic Avenue from the west line of Sherman Street to the east line of Sheridan, on the north side of Republic Avenue; and to the east line of Funston Street on the jsouth side of Republic Avenue. Same was reported faorable by the City j Engineer. i A resolution was introduced on first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Republic Avenue from the west line of Sherman Street to the east line of Sheridan Street on the north side of Republic Avenue); and to' the east line of Funston ( on the south side of Republic Avenue)." Referred tothe Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Breon the Board of Commissioners adjourned to meet in regular session Thursday, May 2, 1940 at 9:00 A. M. City Clerk
