Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 1.0, 1940. ivieeting
was called to order by Mayor 1+iorgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners
TvIorgenstern, Breon, Fern and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. Commis-
sioner Branson absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 1, 1940 were read and approved
as read.
Bids for the construction of Well House No. 8, in Oakdale Park, were re-
ceived as follows:

City Engineers estimate of cost for the above work was read.
Bids were tabulated by the City Engineer,
Commissioner Price moved that contract he awarded to H. E. Woods & Brother,
the lowest, responsible bidder, and that certified checks be returned to unsuccess-
ful bidders. Motion adopted.
Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1940 received from:
Carl E. Randle
Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.
Commissioner Price moved that taxicab license No. 3 issued to W. J. Miller,
and License No. 33 issued to Arthur 111. Downs be cancelled. Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of iviontrose
Avenue from the south line of Charles Street to the north line of Crawford Avenue.
Petition ordered filed.
I A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sanitary sewer in
the alley between Fourth and Fifth Streets from the center line of Forrest Avenue
to a point 250 feet south of the south property line of Forrest Avenue. Referred
tot he City Engineer.
City Engineer reported on the petition asking; for the curbing and gutter-
ing of Second StreIet from Ash Street to Elm Street, recommending that a resolu-
tion be passed on account of more than fifty percent of resident property owners
having signed the petition. Action on same deferred.
Commissioner Breon moved that the time to file estimate of cost and plans
and specifications by City Engineer for Lateral Sanitary Sewers in Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Districts Number 187 and 188 as provided for in Ordinance 14 ,f er 4969 be
extended to April 15, 1940. Motion adopted.
Pipe Line License was received from the Mirrouri Pacific Railroad Company,
covering the crossing of right-of-way in the vicinity of Marietta Street and Vlest
Place for recently constructed storm sewer in the City of Salina, Kansas. On -
motion, _Ubyor was authorized to sign same on behalf of the City. Motion adopted.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to con-
struction of water pipe line across Union Pacfic Right of Way, McPherson Branch,
near South Street."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read, and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Morgenstern, Breon, Fern and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Branson absent.
Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 785.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 154, Resolution Book Number
I 3.
The matter of constructing a sidewalk from Tenth toEleventh Streets, in the
center of the block between Walnut Street and South Street was discussed by the
Board of Commissioners, and the City .Engineer was instructed to file an estimate of
cost at the next meeting of the Board of Commissioners.
Bids were received for pump to be used in Well House No. 8, Oakdale Park
as follows:

Commissioner Ferm moved that all bids be tabled until the next Regular
Meeting of April 15, 1940. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
