01-22-1940 Minutes0 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JANUARY 22, 1940. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 22, 1940. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price and City At- torney Norris responded. Commissioner Breon absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 15, 1940 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1940 re- ceived as follows: Lester Erickson • Ed ''cheidt Ronald Schweitzer Kenneth Myers •Gerald 0. Sparks Leonard Mildfeldt A. E. Cooper Wm. Bush Maurice W. Smith Robert F. Taylor Commissioner Ferm moved that applications be approved and li- cense granted. Motion adopted. Earl i'+lorgan of the Rotary Club Appeared before the Board of Com- missioners in reference to the matter of caring for trees along the parkings. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the construction of certain storm the City of Salina sewers in to be designated as Storm Sewers No. 25 and 26, and providing for the the doing of such letting of a contract for such construction and for work by the City in the therefor, and for event a contract is not let the payment of the cost thereof." On motion of by sections and on Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopted its final adoption the roll was called and the fol- lowing vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner and it is numbered Breon absent. Irlayor approved the ordinance 4965. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating the additional office of Deputy City Clerk." On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was (4) Nays: (0) roll was called and the had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Ferm and Price Commissioner Breon absent. Bids for the construction of a new city well near the Munici- pal Swimming Pool in Oakdale Park received as follows: Layne -Western Company, Kansas City, Missouri�2480.00 Forslund Pump & Machinery Co. Kansas City., Ido 2730.00 American I'Vell Works, Kansas City, Missouri X2675.00 Commissioner Ferm moved that contract be awarded to the Layne - Western Company of Kansas pity, Missouri, the lowest, responsible bidder. Motion adopted. Mr. B. A. breon was selected as the City's representative on the Community Chest Board to succeed the late M. L. Mitchell.
