DECEITIER 26, 1939.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners December 26,
1939. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll
was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Fern and
Price and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular 14eeting of December 18, 1939 were
read and approved as read.
Application for taxicab license for the year 1940 received as
follows:

Commissioner Branson moved that application be approved and
license granted. i4otiou adopted.
Ablah Hotel Supply Company asked for a permit to build a
steel building on South Seventh Street south of Journal Building.
Commissioner Price moved that permit be granted. Notion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner t''erm the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson. Breon,
Ferre and Price (5) Nays: (0) T„ayor approved the ordinance and it
is numbered A-57.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to the issuance of licenses for the sale of cereal
malt beverages under the provisions of Ordinance No. 4741 and pro-

viding for the revoking of such license."
On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the followin=* vote was had; Ayes: "'orgenstern, Branson, Freon, Ferm
and Price (5� Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbred
4961.
j An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to and fixing the salaries of certain officials
in the City of Salina, iLansas."
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final a doption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, r'erm
and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 4962.
Vers. hay Craig filed claim for compensation on account of the
death of her husband Ray Craig. Same was ordered filed.
The following application for Cereal Malt Beverage License
for the year 1940 was presented:

Commissioner Branson moved that application be approved by the
Board of Commissioners, and that the City Clerk be instructed to issue
license. Motion adopted.
Highway Agreement in regard to street signs through the City
was presented. On motion, the Mayor was authorized to sign agree-
ment on behalf of the City. Motion a dopted.
On.:,otion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.

Commissioner Ferm moved that the license on Pv:ilk and Cream
Trucks be reduced to 410.00 for the first truck and 45.00 for each ad-
ditional truck. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance relating to certain permit fees required by Section 3 of
Ordinance Number 4709." Referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Branson moved that license on marble and pin game
machines be not collected after December 31, 1939. Llotion adopted.
Cornnissioner Ferm moved that license on cigarette machines be
not cone cted after December 31, 1939. l'viotion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4693 and repealinr, said
original Section and repealing Sections 2,3,4,5, 6 and 8 of Ordinance
No. 4693 and repealing Ordinances 4850 and 4926." Referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
