12-04-1939 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. DECEMBER 4, 1939. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners December 4, ;939. Meeting was called to order by Mayor '61-orgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price and City Attorney Norris responded. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 27, 1939 were read and approved as read. A petition was presented protesting against the erection of the Nazaren Church at the corner of Eleventh Street and Prescott Avenue. Same was ordered filed. Applications for taxicab drivers license fot the balance of 1939 received as follows: Carol C. Downs 'irthur W. Downs A petition was received asking for the construction of a sani- tary sewer in Cedar Street from the manhole in College Avenue west to the Missouri Pacific Right-of-way. Referred to the City Engineer. Commissioner Breon moved that the Y. M. C. A. be given the right to use the City Building located on the corner of Seventh and Decatur Streets. "'lotion adopted. Application for Pool Hall License for the last half of 1939 received from: John S. Gordon Commissioner Branson moved that application be approved and license granted. A -lotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claim." Onmotion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the followin vote was h1d; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price Nays: (0 Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num- bered A-52. Stack submitted his resignation as a member of the Plumbers Examining Board, Commissioner Branson moved that resignation be accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Commissioner Price moved that Henry A. Bachofer be appointed as a member of Plumbers Examining Board to fill vacancy created by the resignation of James M. Stack; appointment to be for the unexpired term of James Al. Mack. Motion adopted. Commissioner Branson moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Ocott, 640 South Eleventh Street, asking his name to be withdrawn from petition for the vacating of the alley between Eleventh and Twelfth Streets from Crawford Avenue to Charles Street. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the publication in book form of the revised and compiled ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the authentication and distribution thereof."
