OCTOBER 16, 1939.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 16, 1939 .
Meeting was called to order by Mayor idorgenstern, the roll was called
and Commissioners Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm and Price and City
Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 9, 1939 were
read and approved as read.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the balance of
1939 received as follows:
J. Arthur Olson -
Robert 0. McCorkle-
Ronald D. 6chweizter
Commissioner Breon moved that applications received from
J. Arthur Olson and Robert 0. I-JcCorkle be approved and license grant-
ed; and that application received from Ronald D. Schweitzer be rejected
on account of applicant not being of age. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriation for the payment of certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the followin vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm
and Price (5� Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num-
bered A-47.1'
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating
to issuance of Temporary Note in the amount of $7,500.00 (W.P.A.
Project No. 7787-1)."
On motion of Commissioner Ferm the resolution was adopted as
read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the followin
vote was had; Ayes: Tlorgenstern, Branson, Breon Ferm and Price (5�
Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 775.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 141 Resolu-
tion Book Number 2.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Branson the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and
the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Branson, Breon, Ferm
and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is num-
bered A-48.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering
of Tenth Street from Franklin Street to a point 300 feet 300 feet
south. of Franklin Street. Petition was referred to the City Engineer.
The following application for Cereal halt Beverage License
was presented:

Commissioner Ferm moved that application be approved by the
Board of Commissioners and that the City Clerk be instructed to issue
license to applicant. Motion adopted.

A resolution was received from the Board of County Commis-
sioners of Saline County, Kansas, dated October 9, 1939, authorizing
compromise of taxes amounting to $450.78 for the years 1928 to 1933,
both inclusive, on the east half of Lots 42 and 44, Eighth Street,
Original Town, Salina, Kansas for the sum of $100.00. Commissioner
Price moved that the action of the Board of County Cormnissioners be
approved and that the compromise be authorized by the Board of Commis-
sioners of the City of Salina, and that the City Clerk be authorized
to certify such action to the County Clerk of Saline County, Kansas.
Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Breon the Board of Commissioners
adjourned.
