JUNE 17, 1946
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 17, 1946. Meeting was call-
ed to order by Mayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price, Moore,
Noyce and Simpson and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Breon absent.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 10, 1946 were read and approved as
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1946 received as follows:
Roy E. Phillips
Leland F. Letourneau
Ed Paronto
Commissioner Moore moved that applications be approved and license granted.
Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratify-
ing and confirming a contract izth the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of a certain storm sewer in the City of Salina, heretofore designated
as Storm Sewer No. 220, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds."

On motion of Commissioner Simpson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had:
Ayes: Price „ Moore, Noyce and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5161.
An ordinance was introaueed for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain
streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes
to pay the cost thereof pending.the issuance and sale of bonds."

On motion of Commissioner Moore the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Price, Moore, Noyce and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioners Breon absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5162.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown Construction Company, Inc. for
the repaving of a certain public alley in the City of Salina, and providing for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of
bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Noyce the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Prieg Moore, Noyce and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5163

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the paving and grading of Oakdale Avenue from the South line.of Johnstown Avenue
to the south line of Ash Street, and the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of
Oakdale Avenue from the north line of Iron Avenue to the South line of Johnstown
Avenue.

On motion of Commissioner Simpson the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price,
Moore, Noyce and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is numbered 921.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 308, Resolution Book Number 3.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the curbing, guttering paving and grading of Front Street from the south line of

North Street to the North line of Lincoln Street.
On Motion of Commissioner Noyce the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price
Moore, Noyce and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is numbered 922.
The above resolution is recorded in full in Page 309, Resolution Book Number 3,
City Engineer submitted his acceptance for the paving of the alley lying
between Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street from Ash Street to Elm Street as follows:

Gentlemen:
The excavation, paving and otherwise improving
the alley east of seventh Street from Ash to Elm, con-
structed by Brown and Brown, Inc. Salina, Kansas, under
contract dated April 29, 1946 has been completed and
final inspection made by this office..
I have found that work has been performed in
compliance with the plans and specifications of said
contract, �;nd I therefor recommend that the work be
accepted.

On motion of Commissioner Noyce report was approved, and work accepted by the
Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.

Avenue, from existing pavement east, to just beyond last house on Gyspum Ave.
Referred to City Manager.
A petition was presented for the grading, curbing and guttering of Twelfth
Street from the south line of Lincoln to the norht line of grand, and Lincoln
Avenue from the east line of Twelfth Street to the west line of Thirteenth
Street. Referred to the City Manager.
A petition waspresented for the curbing and guttering of Third Street from
Woodland to Pacific. Referred to City Manager.
A petition was presented for curbing and guttering of Third Street from
Forrest and Woodland. Referred to City Manager.
A petition was presented for the curbing, guttering and grading of Illinois
Street from Custer to Sheridan. Referred to the City Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the
east side of Tenth Street from Harsh Avenue to Hamilton Avenue. Referred to
City Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the grading'of Cloud Street from Union
Pacific Railroad tracks to Roach Avenue. Referred to the City Manager.

Mausoleum Deed, for the sale of Crypts numbered 172 and 173 in the Hillcrest
Memorial Mausoleum, to Wm. McBride Stevenson was presented, and on motion of
Commissioner Simpson approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion ado :)ted.
Trust Deed, with a. depo®itu' of $75.00 was presented from Mrs. John J.
Eberhardt for the perpetual care of the South 1/2 of Lot 19, Block 11, in the
Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Simpson Trust Deed was approved by the Board of
Commissioners and the City Treasurer was intructed to place the deposit in the
Gypsum Hill Cemetery Lot Owners Endowment Fiend as provided in Ordinance Number 3530
of the City of Salina, Kansas, Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for
the payment of certain claims."
Un motion of Commissioner Simpson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Price, Moore, Noyce and Simpson (4� Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-332.

of temporary notes in the amount of $1,091.67, $1,027.65, and $8,136.22.4
On motion of Commissioner Simpson the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price,
Moore, Noyce and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Breon absnet. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is number 923.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing
for the paving and grading of a certain north and south public alley between Seventh
Street and Eighth Street from the north line of Iron Avenue, thence north to the
south line of Ash Street, and of the paving and grading of a certain north :nd
sotth public alley between Seventh Street and Eighth Street from the north line of
Walnut Street thence north to the south line of a certain eas t and west public alley
running between Eighth Street and Seventh Street, and providing for the cost thereof,
how the oost thereof shall be assessed and the manner of payment thereof. Ordinance
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
City Clerk was intructed to advertise for bids for the construction of Lateral
Sanitary Sewer Number 209, to be received up to and including Monday, June 24, 1946
at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Motion adopted.
On motion, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare a notice to serve on W. A.
Wilhelm, d/b/a Wilhelm Smoker, 129 South Santa Fe Avenue, to show cause why his
Beer License should not be revoked. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Noycemovedthat the contract with George Stuart for the sale of
Crypts in the Hillcrest Memorial Mausoleum be terminated. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Simpson the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
