COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
SEPTEMBER 24, 1945
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners September 24, 1945. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Moore, the roll was called and Commissioners Moore,
Breon, Noyce and Price and City Attorney Byers responded. Cc mmissioner Simpson
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 17, 1945 were read and
approved as read.
Application for taxicab drivers license for the balance of 1945 received
as follows:
Mrs. Sylvia Tripp
Commissioner Price moved that application be approved and license granted
for day driving only. Motion adopted.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the balance of 1945 received
as follows:
Lawrence B. Gowen
Junior M. Allison
Commissioner Breon moved that applications be approved and license
granted. Motion adopted.
Hal Eisenhauer appeared before the Board of Commissioners with regard to
Application No. 286 asking for 5 -foot set -back on Lot 13, Block 9, Pacific Addition,
(722 N. 13th) which requires approval of Commissioners as per Ordinance No. 4750.
Commissioner Price moved that application be approved. Motion adopted.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering of Seventh Street from the north line of
Lincoln Avenue to the south line of DecaturStreet*"
On motion of Con issioner Price resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes:
Moore, Breon, Noyce and Price (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Simpson absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is numbered 891.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 277, Resolution Book
Number 3.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
amending Section 29-126 of Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina 1939, being
Section 26 of Ordinance No. 4953, relating to and regulating traffic and relating
to and prohibiting the driving of any vehicle by any person under the influence of
intoxicating liquor or narcotic drugs, and providing a penalty for the violation
of this ordinance." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
City Planning Commission reported unfavorably on the petition asking for
the closing of Morrison Avenue from Montrose Avenue to the Missouri Pacific Railroad
right-of-way. Commissioner Price moved that report be approved by the Board of
Commissioners. Motion adopted.
National Housing Agency submitted Supplemental Agreement to original
contract extending coverage to 98 units. Commissioner Breon moved that same be
approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of a street light at
the corner of Phillips Street and Morrison Avenue. Petition was referred to the
City Manager,
Combination Gas Fitters and Plumbers Bond was presented from C. C. Holm, Sr.
doing business as Holm Plumbing and Heating Company. On motion of Commissioner
Price same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the paving of Ash Street from Missouri
Pacific Railroad right-of-way to Highway 81 By -Pass. Referred to the City Manager.
A petition was presented asking for the rezoning of Lots 1 and 3, Block 8,
Leavenworth Addition from "A" Residential to "C" Commercial. Referred to the City
Planning Commission.
On motion of Commissioner Price the City Manager was authorized to meet the
Payroll of September 30, 1945. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Breon the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
