Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 2, 1945. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Moore, the roll was called and Commissioners Moore,
Breon, Noyce, Price and Simpson, and City Attorney Byers responded*
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 25, 1945 were read and approved
as read.
Trust Deed, with a deposit of *100.00 was presented from Eudocia C. Jay
for W. P. Godfrey, for the perpetual care of Lot 13, Block 7, in the Gypsum Hill
Cemetery of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Simpson Trust Deed was approved by the Board of
Commissioners and the City Treasurer was instructed to place the deposit in the
Gypsum Hill Cemetery Lot Owners Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number
3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted.
Application was presented, asking for the transfer of Taxicab License
Number 29 from Chas. M. Scott to Jesse Morris. Commissioner Price moved that
request be granted. Motion adopted.
Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License for the year 1945 received
as follows:

Commissioner Simpson moved that application be approved and license granted,
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Moore, Breon, Price and Simpson (4) Nays: Noyce (1)
Commissioner Breon moved that the contract for the construction of Lateral
Sanitary Sewer Number 202, in alley east of Fifth Street from Pacific to Euclid,
be awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction Company of Salina, Kansas, and that the
Mayor be authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina for such
improvements, in accordance with such proposal and the form of contract and speoi-
fioations attached t ereto, and referred to therein. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
liquidating the Office of Civilian Defense and repealing Ordinance No. 5005."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the followin vote
was had; Ayess Moore, Breon, Noyce, Price and Simpson (5) Nays: (0�
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5092.
Commissioner Price moved that a votecof thanks be extended to the
Civilian Defense for their services rendered to the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion
adopted.
Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for
the sale of the following described bonds:
Sewer Issue $7780.67, Dated April 1, 1945, bearing 1% interest;
Curb and Gutter Issue $5714.98, Dated April 1, 1945, bearing 1%o' interest;
Paving Issue $10,010.U1, Dated April 1, 1945, bearing 1% interest. as
follows:

Commissioner Breon moved that bid of National Bank of America, Salina, Kansas,
be accepted and checks returned to the unsuccessful bidders. Motion adopted.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for
the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Noyce the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Moore, Breon, Noyce, Price and Simpson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is numbered A-287.
City Engineer submitted plans and specifications aid estimate of cost for the
paving of Spruce Street from Phillips Street to College 4enue, and on motion of
Commissioner Price same were approved by the Board of Commissioners , and that
advertising for bids be deferred until future date. Motion adopted.
Mayor Moore submitted for appointment, the names c the following as members
of the various City Boards:
LIBRARY BOARD
Mrs. H. N. Moses, for a term of four years from February 1, 1945,
to succeed herself.
Miss Grace Stewart, for a term of four years from Februiary 1, 1945,
to succeed herself.
PUBLIC WELFARE BOARD
Mrs. A. F. McCarty, for a term of five years from May 21, 1948,
to succeed herself.
Mrs. L. S. Nelson, for a term of five years from fty 21, 1944,
to succeed herself.
Rev. Hugh B. Chittenden, for a term of five years�rom May 21, 1945.
PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING BOARD
