Meeting was called to order by Mayor Moore, the roll was called and Commissioners Moore, Breon, Noyce, Price and Simpson and City Attorney Byers responded, as read. follows: The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 4, 1945 were read and approved Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1945 received as John Bulleigh Geo. T. Tibb itts Commissioner Simpson moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Helen A. Lambott Commissioner Simpson moved that application be approved and license granted for day driving only. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance granting to Union Pacific Railroad Company, its successorsa. nd assigns, the right to extend, construct, maintain and operate certain switch tracks in Fourth Street, and across Walnut Street, in the City of Salina, Kansas." Ordinance was referred tot he Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Price moved that a Special Permit be granted to Harry E. Whittecar to construct a second story on garage that is located on Lot 1, Block 1, Crowther's Addition, on account of said building having an alley on two sides, and that Building Inspector be instructed to issue said permit. Motion adopted. Petitions were received asking for the curbing and guttering of the following streets: Lincoln Street from Grant to Arthur; Arthur Avenue from North to Linooln; Grant Avenue from North to Lincoln; Garfield Avenue from North to Lincoln; North Street from Front to Arthur Charles Street from Phillips to Montrose. The above petitions were referred to the City Manager and City Engineer. Petitions were received asking for the construction of the following Lateral Sanitary Sewers: Arthur Avenue from North to Lincoln; Garfield Avenue from North to Lincoln.; North Street from Front to Arthur. The above petitions were referred to the City Manager and City Engineer. A petition was presented asking for the ourbing, guttering and black top on Frost Street from Ninth Street to Tenth Street. Petition was referred to the City Manager and City Engineer. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for construction of certain curbing and guttering improvements on West Place from Park to Elm; Kansas Avenue from Ash to Elm; Kansas Avenue from a point 500 feet north of Elm to Riverside Drive; Franklin venue from heridan to Custer; Franklin Avenue from Sheridan to Merrill; Front Otreet from Ash to Elm; and anango Otreet from Sheridan to Merrill; and prong for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance s read and adopted by see - tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Moore, Breen, Noyes, Price and Simpson (5) Nays (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5088. An ordinance was introduced for second reading mtitleds "An ordinance relating to and regulating taxicabs and taxicab fares a d amending Section 28 of Ordinance No. 4952 as amende* by Section 2 of Ordinance No. 5006 as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance Number 5017 as amended by Ordinanee No. 5026 and 5059, and repealing said original section as amended." On motion of Commissioner Breen the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adop#ion the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Moore, Breon, Noyce, Price and Simpson (5) Na : (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5089. A communication was received from the City Planning Commission recommending that Lots 1 and 3, Block 8, Leavenworth Addition be not rezoned to "D" Light Industrial, Commissioner Price moved that report be adopted by the Board of j Commissioners. Motion adopted. City Engineer submitted plans and speoifioations and estimate of cost for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 202, in alley east of Fifth i Street from Pacific to Euclid. Commissioner Noyce moved that plans and specifications for the conStruction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 202 be approved, and that the City Clerk be in- structed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including Monday, June 25, 1945 at 7:30 P. M. Motion adopted. City Clerk was instructed to publish notice in the official City paper, notifying property owners on Sheridan Street from Republic to Wilson and on Hancock Street from Illinois to Venango to construct and lay wa er and gas service pipes and sewers within thirty days from and after the 16th day of June 1945. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the condemning of,an easement in the East 15 feet of Lot 5, Block 19, Pacific Addition, for the purpose of constructing, maintaining, repe ting and re- placing a Lateral Sanitary Sewer through Lot 5, Block 119, Pacific Addition." Ordi- nance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Price moved that the City Manager be authorized to meet the f Payroll of June 15, 1945. Motion adopted. On motion of Commissioner Breen the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
