04-02-1945 Minutes1 D n �1 225 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGM AR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. APRIL 2, 1945 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners A ril 2, 1945. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was call and Commissioners Morgen- stern, Breon, Price and Simpson and City Attorney Byers responded. Commissioner Moore absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 26,11945 were read and approved as read. Mrs. Ernest Sears asked permission to transfer eer License Number 8252 from 211 Feat Walnut Street to 229 South Santa Fe Avenue. Commissioner Price moved that permission be granted subject to approval of Food nepeotor. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Breon the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Price and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Moore absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbers A-275. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordi�ance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Price and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Moore absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-276. City Manager recommended the construction of a sewer in alley between Tenth and Eleventh Streets from Lincoln Avenue to Grand Avenu. Commissioner Simpson moved that report be approved by the Board of Comnissio ers. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading a itled: "An ordinance creating and defining certain Lateral Sanitary Sewer District in the City of Salina designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number so created, providing for the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of such construction and forte issuing of bonds therefor." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Letters were received from the Chief of Police e of the following taxicab drivers license: Number 15 Carl V. Kohle Number 66 J. 0. Atkinson Commissioner Price moved that the above ment revoked. Motion adopted. commending the revocation d taxicab drivers license be Trust Deed, with a deposit of $75.00 was received from Ina Coburn, Adminis- tratrix of the estate of Violetta Randall deceased, fo the perpetual care of the North 1/2 of Lot 26, Block 19, in the Gypsum Hill Cemet ry of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Simpson, Trust Deed was accepted by the Board of Commissioners and the City Treasurer was instructed to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted. City Engineer filed plans and specifications an estimate of cost for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 201 locatd in Walkers Addition and Surveyors Plat "G", in Front Street from North Street s uth. On motion of Commissioner Breon plans and specifications were approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the above named sewer to be received up to and including Monday, April 9th, 1945 at eight o'clock P. M. On motion of Commissioner Simpson the Board of Commissioners adjourned. 226 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, CANVASSING BOARD MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. APRIL 6, 1945 BE IT REMEMBERED, that on Friday, April 6th, 1945, the Board of Commission- ers met as a Board of Canvassers (ex -officio) as provided by law, tb canvass the vote cast at the Regular City Election held in Salina, Kansas, April 3, 1945. The meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price, Breon and Simpson and City Attorney Byers responded. Com- missioners Morgenstern and Moore absent. The returns of the City Election were presented by the City Clerk and opened in the presence of the Commissionere assembled, duly canvassed and the result declared, and the City Clerk was directed by route of the Board to spread upon the Journal the result of the canvass which is done as follows: CITY COMMISSIONERS Votes B. Water Softening For the proposition 1832 Against the proposition 699 On motion of Commissioner Simpson the report and findings of the Canvassing Board were received and ordered spread upon the records, and the persons above named be declared elected to the respective offices above set forth, and that propositions numbered one and two carried.
