JANUARY 16, 1945
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 16, 1945. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Mor-
genstern, Breon, Moore, Price and Simpson and City Attorney Byers responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 8, 1945 were read and approved
as read.
Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1945 received as

Beer Application Number 46, received from W. A. Wilhelm and presented to
the Board of Commissioners January 8, 1945, asking for General Retailer Class "B"
Individual Beer License, was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Com-
missioner Breon moved that license be granted. Motion adopted.

Beer Application Number 47,
received from Perry H. Fyffe, and presented to
the Board of Commissioners January

Individual Beer License, was again
taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Commis-
sioner Simpson moved that license be
granted. Motion adopted.
Mayor Morgenstern asked to
be excused and Acting Mayor Price took charge

Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bid was received for
the paving of Park Street from Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks, east to exist-
ing brick pavement as follows:

City Engineer's
cost for the above work was
Bid was tabulated by the City Engineer.
Commissioner Moore moved that c ontract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction
Company as per bid submitted, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract
on behalf of the City of Salina for such improvement, in accordance with such
proposal and the form of contract and specifications attached thereto, and referred
to therein. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company, for the
construction of a certain lateral sanitary sewer in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Dis-
trict Number 199 in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary
notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Breon the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had: Ayes: Price, Breon, Moore and Simpson (4) Nayss (0) Morgenstern^.absegt.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5075.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Breon the ordinance was read and adopted by seo-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had:
Ayes: Price, Breon, Moore and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) 1 absent. Acting Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-266.
An ordinance was introduced
for the payment of certain claims."

On motion of Commissioner Breon the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Price, Breon, Moore and Simpson (4) Nays: (0) Morgenstern absent.
Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-267.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance

City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay
the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
Mausoleum Deed for the sale of Crypts numbered 452 and 453 to Mrs. J. A.
Gustafson, was presented to the Board of Commissioners, and on motion of Commis-
sioner Moore deed was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Mausoleum Deed for the sale of Crypts numbered 1, 2 and 3, in DeLuxe
Section 1, to Ben Yohe, was presented to the Board of Commissioners, and on motion
of Commissioner Simpson deed was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion
adopted.
Acting Mayor Price submitted the names of J. Earl Wyatt, Wm. F. Grosser, J
and John Frederick, to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain
lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of paving Park
Street from the Mi:g$ou#i Pacific Railroad, east to existing brick pavement. On
motion of Commissioner Moore the appointments were confirmed by the Board of Com-
missioners.
Acting Mayor Price submitted the names of J. Earl hyatt, Wm. F. (Tosser, Jr.
and John Frederick, to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain
lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of constructing
Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 199, located in Hancock street from venango Street
to Republic Avenue. On motion of Commissioner Simpson appointments were confirmed
by the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Moore the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
