Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price and City Attorney Byers responded. as read. lows: The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 9, 1944 were read and approved Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1944 received as fol - Nathan William Gay Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Mr. W. S. Norris, representing the Deluxe Cab Company and Bell Taxi, appeared before the Board of Commissioners in reference to taxicab fares. On motion, the matter was tabled until the Regular Meeting of October 23, 1944. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Moore the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayess Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-254. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-255. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to issuance of Temporary Note in the amount of $7941.80 (Curb and Gutter Job No. 203)". On motion of Commissioner Elliott the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the vad6-1w.tdenand it is numbered 860. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 242, Resolution Book Number 3. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of sertain claims." On motion of Commissioner Moore the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-256. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Seventh Street from Grand Avenue to woodland Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 861. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 243, Resolution Book Number 3. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendment of Ordinance Number 3188 and adding certain areas to "C" Commercial District, as defined in Section 5, of said ordinance and excluding certain areas from the "A" Residential district to the "C" Commercial district, as defined in Section 3 of said ordinance." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance ryas read and adopted by sections and on its final.adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (U) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5068. I 1 1 1 Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bid was received for the paving of Park Street from the Missouri Pacific Railroad right-of-way to Chicago Street as follows: H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas City Engineers estimate of cost for the above named work was read. Bid was tabulated by the City Engineer. Commissioner Elliott moved that contract be awarded to the H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company of Salina, Kansas, as per bid submitted, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina for such improvement, in accordance with such proposal and the form of contract and specifications attached thereto, and referred to therein. Motion adopted. Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bid was received for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 192, 1&5 and 196 as follows: H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas City Engineers estimate of cost for the above named work was read. Bid was tabulated by the City Engineer. Commissioner Elliott moved that contract be awarded to the H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company, of Salina, Kansas, as per bid submitted, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina for such improvement, in accordance with such proposal and the form of contract and specifications attached thereto and referred to therein. Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for the paving of Sheridan Street from the north line of Republic Avenue to the south line of Wilson Street with six-inch reinforced concrete. Petition was referred to the City Manager. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirmirg a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Selina and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Elliott the Board of Commissioners adjourned. C ity C 1 ark 171
