08-28-1944 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 28, 1944 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commission rs August 28, 1944. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Price, the roll was called and Commissiom rs Price, Breon, Elliott and Moore and City Attorney Byers responded. Commissioner Morgen- stern absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 21, 1944 were read and approved as read. Application for Taxicab Drivers License for the year 1944 received as follows: Iva Meredith A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the paving of Clark Street from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of Spruce Street. Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering and gradin of Franklin Street from the east line of Sheridan Street to the west line of Custer Street. Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Menager Allison reported that petition asking for the paving of Chicago Street from the south line of Ash Street to the north line of Park Street was insufficient on account of not having enough signers. Report adopted by the Board of Commissioners. City Manager Allison reported that remonstrance against the paving of Ash Street from the west line of West Place, east of the Missouri Pacific Railroad right- of-way was sufficient. Report adopted by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance andsale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Elliott the City Manager was authorized to meet the Payroll of August 31, 1944. Motion adopted. i On motion of Commissioner Elliott the Board of Commissioners adjourned to meet in regular session TVandeiy-, September 1944. i Clerk i Commissioner Elliott moved that application be approved and license granted for day driving only. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendment of Ordinance No. 3188, and adding certain areas to "C" Commercial district, and to light Industrial district as defined in Sections 5 and 6 respectively, of said ordinance, and excluding certain areas from the "A" Resi- dential district to the "C" Commercial district, respectively, as defined in Sections 3 and 5, respectively of said ordinance." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissionrs. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for the paving of Highland Circle from the north line of Beloit Avenue to the south line of Republic Avenue; and the paving of Republic Avenue from the west line of Sherman Avenue to the west line of Eleventh Street; and providing for the cost thereof, and how the same shall&e assessed, and the manner of payment thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Luther H. Miller and Harry J. Caton asked permission to transfer their Beer License from 113 West Iron Avenue to 111 North Seventh Street. Commissioner Breon moved that permission be granted subject to approval of food inspection. Motion adopted.
