08-07-1944 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SAL INA, KANSAS. AUGUST 7, 1944 i Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 7, 1944. Meeting was i called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgen- stern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price and City Attorney Byers responded, as read. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 31, 1944 were read and approved i i iMr. H. N. Eller of the Lions Club, appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked that Carnival License fee be waived for the 4-H Club Fair, to be held in Kenwood Park, during the last week of August 1944. Commissioner Elliott moved that license fee be waived. Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bid was received for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 192, located in alley east of Eleventh Street from Harsh Avenue to Inez'Avenue as follows Robert S. Horsley, Salina, Kansas, City Engineers estimate of cost for the above named work was read. Bid was tabulated by the City Engineer. It appearing that bid was in excess of the City Engineers estim te, Commis- sioner Price moved that bid be rejected by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1944 received as follows: Jannie S. Bewley Ruth Olsen Sylvia Pearl Thrapp Dolores Lorraine Cowan Ethel M. Green Commissioner Moore moved that applications be approved and license granted for day driving only for the following: Jannie S. Bewley Ruth Olsen Sylvia Pearl Thrapp Dolores Lorraine Cowan Motion adopted. Commissioner Price moved that application received from Ethel M. Green be rejected. Motion adopted. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Franklin Street from the west line of Sheridan Street to the east line of Merrill Street. On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 854. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 236, Resolution Book Number 3. Commissioner Elliott moved that taxicabs numbered 4, 5, 7 and 23, owned by John Bulleigh, be transferred from DeLuxe Cab Company to Bell Taxi, and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Automobile Liability Polioy was presented from the Continental Casualty Company, issued to Gordon Angwin and Enoch Harris, d/b/a Salina Transit Company.
