Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and 6ommissioners Mor- genstern, Breon and Price and City Attorney Byers responded. Commissioners Elliott and Moore absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 3, 1944 were read and approved as read, Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1944 received as follows: Mrs, vera Scheidt Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. License granted for day driving only. H. 0. Clausen Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Leo R. Partoh Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. T. E. French asked for permission to install a taxi telephone at the oorner of Santa Fe Avenue and Beloit Avenue. Commissioner Price moved that permission be not granted. Motion adopted. Commissioner Price moved that Taxicab Drivers License Number 96 issued to Floyd Webster be revoked. Motion adopted. The petition asking for the extension of sanitary sewer northward on Tenth Street from Harsh to Ines was approved and Commissioner Price moved that sewer be constructed; also a water line be constructed. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain Lateral Sewer District in the City of Salina as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 192„and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in the Lateral Sanitary Sewer District so created; and pro- viding for the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of such construction and for the issuing of bonds therefor." On motion of Coimnissioner Breon the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayess Morgenstern,. Breon and Price (3) Nayss (0) Commissioners Elliott and Moore absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5058. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to taxicab passengers andrepealing Section 30„ Ordinance Number 4952." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayess Morgenstern, Breon and Price (3) Nayss (0) Commission re Elliott and Moore absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5059. A petition was presented asking for the rezoning of Lots 14 and 16,Block 2, Crowther's Addition to "Light Industrial". Petition was referred tothe City Planning Commission. 0 1.26 Commissioner Breon moved that report received from City Planning Commission recommending the rezoning of Lots 62„ 64, 66, Ninth Street, (hounds of Kangas _ Wesleyan University from "A" Residential to "C" Commercial be approved by the Board of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to publish a notice in the official City paper as provided by law, that a public hearing will be granted to any person interested in said proposed changes a nd amendments, at eight o'clock P. M. on Monday,August 21, 1944 at the Commissioners Meeting Room in the City Hall, Salina, Kansas, at which time written protests as provided by law, will be considered by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Action on Pool Hall Applications for the last half of 1944 was deferred. Mr. Murl Richmond submitted his resignation as a member of the City Planning Commission, and on motion of Commissioner Price same was accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
