COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JUNE 19, 1944
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 19th, 1944. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners
Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price and City Attorney Byers responded.
Regular Meeting
read and approved
Application for taxicab drivers license for the year 1944 received as follows:
Commissioner Breon moved that application be approved and license
Motion adopted.
A letter was received from Edgar W. Heyl, Chief of Police, in reference
to taxicab drivers license issued to James Beverly Morris. On motion, the matter
was referred back to the Chief of Police for further investigation.
A petition was presented asking for the rezoninF, of Lots 62, 64 and
Ninth Street, Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University, from "A" Residential to
"C" Commercial. Petition was referred tothe City Planning Commission.
A petition was presented askin for the paving of Republic Avenue from the
west line of Sherman Street to the west line of Eleventh Street; and on Highland
Circle from the north line of Beloit Avenue tot he south line of Republic Avenue.
Petition was ordered filed.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to he paving of Highland Circle from the north line of Beloit Avenue to
the south line of Republic Avenue. Referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving of Republic Avenue from the west line of Sherman Street to
the est line of Eleventh Street."' Referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Mausoleum Deed for the sale of Crypts numbered 529, 530 and 531 to Dr.
J. M. Gaume was presented to the Board of Commissioners, and on motion of Commissioner
Elliott the Mayor was authorized to sign the dead on behalf of the City of Salina,
Kansas. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
payment of certain claim; ."
On motion of Commissioner Price tre ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final a doption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-241.

On motion of Commissioner Moore the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final a doption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered A-242.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with The H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain repaving, recurbing, guttering and excavating improvements
on Ash Street, between Colum is Avenue and Kansas Avenue, in the City of Salina,
and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the
issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commission-
ers.
Commissioner Moore recommended the purchase of the
Treasury Bonds 19521954:
$7500.00 Gypsum Hill Cemetery Lot Owners Endowment Fund
$6500.00 Hillcrest Memorial Ofiiausoleum) Endowment Fund
Motion adopted, and the City Manager was authorized to make the purchase.
A petition was presented from Guy L. Whiteford, formerly a member of the
Salina Police Department, asking for pension to b e paid from the Police Relief
and Pension Fund of the City of Salina. The matter was referred to the City At-
torney.
On motion of Commissioner Breon the Board of Commissions rs adjourned.
