COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING

Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 12, 1944. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgen-
stern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price and City Attorney Byers responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 5, 1944 were r ead and approved as

Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bid:;was received for the
repaving of Ash Street from Columbia Avenue to Kansas Avenue as follows:
H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas.

City Engineers Estimate of Cost for the above named work was read.
s Bid was tabulated by the City Engineer.
Commissioner Breon moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction
Company as per bid submitted, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign contract on j
behalf of the City of Salina for such improvement in accordance with such proposal
and the form of contract and specifications attached thereto, and referred to therein.
Motion adopted.
j A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to and providing
for pension for Anna Eaton, widow of 0. E. Eaton, who died May 31, 1942."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on
iits final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgen-
stern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is numbered 848.

The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 230, Resolution Book Number
I 3.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance to
} change the name of a street beginning at the north line of Walnut Street end west of the
Missouri Pacific Railroad, thence north along the Missouri Pacific right of -way to
Elm Street along the west side of Leavenworth Addition, replat of Dodge's Addition,
Surveyor's Plat No. 31 and Elmdale Addition, formerly known as Railroad Street to be
changed to West Place.
On motion of Commissioner Breon the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was c celled and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
{ ordinance and it is numbered 5056.
A communication was received from the City Planning Commission, recommending
that all of the following property be rezoned to "Light Industrial": Lots 17 and 18
on Ninth Street, Bishop's Addition; Lots 59, 60, 61 and 62 on Tenth Street, Bishop's
j Addition; Lots 10 and 11 on Eleventh Street, Weaver's Addition; and Lots 10 and 11,
on Twelfth Street, weaver's Addition.
On motion of Commissioner Price the report was accepted by the Board of Com-
missioners and the City Clerk was instructed to publish a notice in the official City
paper, as provided by law, that a public hearing will be granted to any person interest-
ed in said proposed changes and amendments, at eight o'clock P. M. on Monday, July 17th,
1944, at the Commissioners Meeting Room in the City Hall, Salina, Kansas, at which
time written protests, as provided by law, willbe considered by the Board of Commission-
ers. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Elliott the City Manager was authorized to meet the
Payroll of June 15th, 1944. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Moore the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
