05-15-1944 Minutes1 1 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS MAY 15, 1944 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 15, 1944. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgen- stern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price and City Attorney Byers responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 8th, 1944 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Elliott the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-238. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Moore, Elliott and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-239. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of Claflin Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street, west approximately 1016 feet to the west line of Lot 13, Block 1, Evergreen Park Addition; Merrill Street from the south line of Nilson Street tot he north line of Republic Avenue;79rshing Street from the south line of Jewell Avenue to the north line of Kirwin Avenue; North side of Republic Avenue from the west line of Sheridan Street to the east line of Hancock Street; Spruce Street from the west line of College Avenue to the east line of the Missouri Pacif- ic Railroad Right-of-way; and Spruce street from the east line of College Avenue to the west line of Phillips Itreet; and providing for the cost of such improvements and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance wasread and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes= Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5051. A Resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Eleventh Street from the south line of 'rand Avenue to the north line of Lincoln Street. On motion of Commissioner Elliott the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Breon, Elliott, Moore and Price (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 844. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 223, Resolution Book Number 3. Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License for the year 1944 received as follows: Application Number Name of Applicant Name and Location of Place of Business 53 Perry H. Fiffe Paramount Bar 225 North Santa Fe Commissioner Price moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Trust Deed with a deposit of $75.00 was received from Edith W. Brown, for the perpetual care of the North 1/2 of Lot 6, Block 15, (C. H. Wellman lot) in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Breon moved that Trust Deed be approved and that the City Treas- urer be instructed to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Lot Owners Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of Kansas Avenue between Ash Street and Elm Street in the City of Salina, Kansas. Petition ordered filed. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Kansas Avenue from the north line of Ash Street to the south line of Elm Street. Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Elliott the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk
