03-06-1944 Minutes84 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS MARCH 6, 1944 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 6, 1944. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price, Breon and Elliott responded. Commissioners Morgenstern and Moore and City Attorney Clark absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 28, 1944 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1944 received as follows$ A. ';. Cooper J. W. Koffman Wm. Motion adopted. Acting City Engineer submitted Final Estimate of Cost for the curbing and guttering of s Tenth Street from Wilson Street to Republic Avenue, College Avenue from Morrison Avenue to Prescott Avenue, Montrose Avenue from Morrison Avenue to Prescott Avenue, Commissioner Elliott moved that same be approved by the Board of Com- missioners. Taylor Construction Company of Montrose Avenue from Morrison Avenue to Prescott Avenue; College Avenue from Morrison Avenue to Pres- oott Avenue; and Tenth Street from Wilson btreet to Republic Avenue as followss Salina, Kansas. 29 February 1944 To the Aon. Board of Commissioners, City of Salina, Kansas. (rent lemon s The excavating, grading, curbing and guttering constructed by the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas, under contract dated 24 November 1943, Job Number 200, has been constructed and completed as per plans and specifications. I hereby approve the work under the above dated contract and submit same to your honorable body for its acceptance. Respectfully submitted, (Signed) L. M. Sraok Acting City Engineer Commissioner Breon moved that report be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that work mentioned in said report be accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. Electrical Bond was presented from Paul D. Merrill, d/b/a Paul D. Merrill Electric Company, and on motion of Commissioner Breon the same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Trust Deed, with a deposit of $100.00 was received from Alice M. Dow, at al for the perpetual care of Lot 42, Block 14, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Elliott moved that Trust Deed be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that the City Treasurer be authorized to place the deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Lot Owners Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted. On motion of Commissioner Elliott the City Manager was authorized to purchase two new automobiles for the Police Department. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Elliott the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayea: Price, Breon and Elliott (3) Nayss (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Moore absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-229. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Claflin Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street west approximately 1016 feet to the west line of Lot 13, Block 1, Evergreen Park Addition." I On motion of Commissioner Breon the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayess Price, Breon and Elliott (3) Nayss (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Moore absent. Acting Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 840. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 219, Resolution Book Number 3. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled; "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of truce Street from the west line of College Avenue best to the east line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad right-of- way." On motion of Commissioner Breon the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayeas Price, Breon and Elliott (3) Nayss (0) Commissioners Morgenstern and Moore absent. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the exclusion of a certain area from the fire limits of the City of Salina."
