Meeting was called to order by Mayor Morgenstern, the roll was called and Commissioners Morgenstern, Moore and Price and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioners Breon and Elliott absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 3, 1944 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1944 received as followss I Geneva M. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance regulating pawnbrokers and purchasers of second hand jewelry and providing for punishment of violation thereof." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption -the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Moore and Price (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Breon and Elliott absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5043. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for crossing Fourteenth Street, Fifteenth Street, Railroad Street, elm Street, Chicago Street, Olive Street and adjacent alleys City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe kailway Company tracks at grade and the milftenance thereof." On motion of Commissioner Moore the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Morgenstern, Moore and Price (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Breon and Elliott absent. Mayor approved the ordiAaficen and it is numbered 5044. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing and establishing the rates to be charged users of water sold by the Salina Waterworks Department oft he City of Salina and providing for certain discounts and increased minimum allowances to users of such water and providing for repealing Sf Section 12, of Ordinance 3191 (Section 36-116, Revised Ordinances of aline, 1939.)" Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Price the Board of Commissioners adjourned to meet in regular session, Saturday, January 15th, 1944 at 11:45 A. M.
