COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JUNE 21, 1943.
Regular Meeting of t heBoard of Commissioners June 21, 1943. Meeting was
called to order by Acting Mayor Price the roll was called and Commissioners Price,
Elliott and Moore responded. Commissioners Morgenstern and Breon absent,
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 15, 1943 were read and approved
as read.
Approval of the use of building located at 253 North Santa Fe Avenue
for the Negro USO was presented. Commissioner Moore moved that a letter for
this approval be given. Motion adopted.
Mr. M. D. Evans appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked for a
special permit to erect a building for a grocery store on part of Lot 8, Block 13,
Southern Heights Addition to Salina, Kansas. The matter was referred to the City
Planning Commission.

The above appointments constitute the appointive
positions of the various departments of our City govern-
ment and are not made for any specified time. The ap-
pointees to serve at the discretion of the City Manager
and may be removed from office at any time.
The tenure of office of newly appointed officers
to begin June 16, 1943.

On motion of Commissioner Elliott the appointments were confirmed by the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Elliott the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had: Ayes: Price, Elliott and Moore (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Morgenstern
and Breon absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 203-A.

Commissioner Moore moved that application be rejected by the Board of
Commissioners. Motion adopted.
Beer Application Number 64 for L. C. Helbert, d/b/a Bills Tavern at
142T North Santa Fe Avenue, presented to the Board of Commissioners June 15th,
1943, was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Moore moved
that application be rejected by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and fixing the salaries and wages of certain officers end employees
of the City of Salina and repealing Ordinance Number 5029 and original Sections
3 and 4 of Ordinance 5025." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commis-
sioners.
Dan Bolen appeared before the Board of Commissioners and asked for
permission to locate a waiting stand for service men at the intersection of
Santa Fe Avenue and Highway 40. On motion of Commissioner Moore permission
was granted.
On motion of Commissioner Elliott the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
