Meeting was called to order by layor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price, King, Ramsey, Webb and City Attorney Clatk responded:'_ Cbmmi.ssioner.6tephenson absent. The minutes of the Regular heeting of hay 2, 1949 were read and approved as read. Club 1482 South Santa Fe Commissioner Ramsey moved that Application be approved and license granted. motion adopted. GENERAL RETAILER "CORPURAT ON" vame of Applicant Salina Baseball Club, Inc. Name and Location of Place of Business Salina Baseball Club, lnc. Kenwood Park Commissioner King moved that application be approved and license granted, subject to final approval of Food Inspection Department. Motion adopted. Application for taxicab drivers license No. 80 issued to Richard E. McLane was presented. On motion of Commissioner King approved by the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of Third Street from Prescott Avenue to Crawford Avenue. Referred to City Manager. A petition was presented for the curbing, guttering and paving of Quincy Street from Beloit Avenue to Kirwin Avenue. Referred to City kanager. Trust Deeds, with a deposit of 4150.00 were presented from Mrs. Ralph Anderson, for the perpetual care of the North 1/2 of Lot 38, Mock 20; and the South 1/2 of Lot 7, Block 16, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Commissioner Ramsey moved that Deeds be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that City Treasurer be instructed to place deposit in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery Lot Owners' Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance Number 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted. City Engineer submitted his acceptance for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 225 to 231 inclusive, (known as Job No. 244), contract awarded August 2, 1948. Commissioner Webb moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate of Cost in the amount of X12,554.25, for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 225 to 231 inclusive, (known as Job No. 244), contract awarded August 2, 1948. Commissioner Webb moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate in the amount of :1,263.77 to h. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 225 to 231 inclusive, (known as Job No. 244), contract awarded August 21 1948. Commissioner Webb moved that same be approved by the Board of Commis- sioners. :,,lotion adopted. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 234 and 235, lknown as Job No. 250), contract awarded January 10, 1949. Commission- er king moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Lotion adopted. City Engineer submitted eartial Estimate Number 2 in the amount of $28,386.07 to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of curbing, guttering and paving improvements provided for in contract awarded October 18, 1948, (known as Job No. 247). Commissioner Ramsey moved that same be approved by the Board of Com- missioners. Niotionadopted. City Engineer submitted Partial Estimate :Dumber 3 in the amount of $6794.12 to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of curbing, guttering and paving improvements provided for in contract awarded August 30, 1)48 (known as Job No. 245). On motion of Commissioner King same was approved by the Board of Commission- ers. Lotion adopted. Wilson and Company submitted Partial Estimate No. 7 in the amount of X35,905.29 to H. J. Taylor Construction Company for Airport Improvements. Commis- sioner Ramsey moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Notion adopted. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and pro- viding for the issuance of Temporary Mote of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $28,386.07 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of Salina to be designated as Series No. PT -3, pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner Webb the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stephenson absent. Mayor ap- proved the resolution and it is numbered 1111. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 117 to 119 inclusive, Resolution Book Number 4. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and pro- viding for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $6794.12 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of Salina to be designated as Series PT -2, pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner King the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was alled and the following vote was had: Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey and Webb (4) Mays: (0) Commissioner Stephenson absent. lviayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 1112. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 120 to 122 inclusive, Resolution Book Number 4. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming the contract of Johnson Brothers Construction Company and Brown and Brown, Inc., for the building of a Sewage Disposal Plant for the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, King, Webb and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stephenson absent. L{ayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5375• An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral sewer district in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 240, and providing for the construction of a lateral snitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District ivumber 240, so' created; � a nd=pr°bVi ding. -for. ther:payment of:. the cost thereof and for the 1 levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Webb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey and -Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Stephenson absent. lviayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5376. VI -50 The appraisers reports for the curbing, guttering and paving of certain streets provided for in Ordinances Numbered 5293, 5294, 5295, and 5304, were presented, and on motion of Commissioner Webb, Monday, Lay 23rd, 1949 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. was designated as a Special Meeting, at which time the appraisers reports will be taken up and acted on by the Board of Commissioners, and that City Clerk give notice of such leeting in the official City paper as provided by law. kotion adopted. Letter was presented rom the State Corporation Commission regarding application filed by the 'destern Union Telegraph Company to dyscontinue Branch Office at 315 North Fifth Street, Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Webb moved that City tanager answer letter that City Commissioners are agreeable to the closing. iviotion adopted. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating tothe paving of Third Street from the north line of North Street to the south line of the Union Pacific Right -of -Way." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to he paving of Fifth Street from the south line of Otis Avenueto the south line of huclid Avenue. I Referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "'A Resolution relating to she curbing and guttering of Quincy Street from the north line of Republic Avenue to`uhe south line of Beloit Street." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of Thirteenth Street from the south line of Grand Avenue to the ce.iter line of Broadway Boulevard."
