Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners iLarch 28, 1949. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Stedham, the roll was called and Commissioners Stedham,
Noyce, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Lindgren
absent.
The minutes of the Regular ideeting of larch 21, 1949 were read and approved
as read.
The matter of additional work as the Salina Municipal Airport was taken
up by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Noyce moved that City Manager
be authorized to sign Project Application for extension. Carried.
Sewage Disposal plans received from the State Board of Health. Commis-
sioner trice moved to accept plans and specifications and that City Clerk be instruct-
ed to advertise for bids for such improvement, to be received up to and including
April 25th, 1949 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Carried.
City Manager was instructed to check on number of Shuffle Boards in City
and report at next meeting. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced on first reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the inclusion of certain lands in the City of Salina, Kansas, in
the "B" Residential District as that District is defined in Section 4 of Ordinance
Number 3188, and providing for the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to the pur-
chase of land for public uses."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
j Stedham, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren absent.

Commissioner Noyce made motion to approve payment of $200.00 to Jerry E.
Cusick, Jr. by City Attorney, C. L. Clark, in connection with purchase of additional
land for Sewage Disposal Plant. Motion adopted.
Letter and copy of Leila W. Rearwin,Will, received from Litowich, Noyce
and Hampton. Commissioner Stephenson moved that matter be tabled for
further study. Motion adopted.
Gas Fitters Bonds was presented from E. F. Stauffer, d/b/a Stauffer Hardware.
On motion of Commissioner Noyce bond was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Carried.
A petition was presented protesting against the curbing and guttering of
Grand Avenue between Tenth Street and Eleventh Street. Referred to City Manager.
Petitions were presented for the paving of the following streets:
Pershing Street from Jewell Avenue to Kirwin Avenue.
Above petitions were referred to the City Manager.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of construct-
ing certain water service pipes in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas.
Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for third reading entitled: "An ordinance
granting to the Kansas Power and Light Company, a Kansas corporation, its successors
and assigns, an electric and natural gas franchise, prescribing the terms thereof
and relating thereto, and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent
with or in conflict with the tbrms hereof."

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to possession and transportation of liquor and limiting the use or uses
thereof and providing for the repeal of all ordinances in conflict therewith and
inconflict with the provision of an Act entitled Substitute Senate Bill No. 9.
On motion of Commissioner trice the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Stedham, ivoyce, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Lindgren absent. L-layor approved the €�rdinanbe, and it is numbered 5367.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina,
Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District dumber 236, and providing
for the construction of a Lateral Sanitary Sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer
District Number 236 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof
and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for
the payment of the cost bf.such construction for the issuing of bonds to pay the
cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec -
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Stedham, ivoyce, Price, and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5368.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering of Illinois Street from the west line of
Sheridan Street to the east line of Merrill Street, and for the curbing and guttering
of Illinois Street from the west line of Merrill Street to the east line of Hancock
Street."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Stedham, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren absent.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering of Third Street from the north line of Repub-
lic Avenue to the south line of Lot 13, projected west, Block 5 in Hutchinson's
Addition to the City of Salina, being approximately 453 feest north and south."

final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham,
