Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stedham, the roll was called and Commissioners Stedham, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioners Lindgren and Noyce absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 14, 1949 were read and approved � as read. Mr. David E. Loy, of Veterans Cab Company, appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding taxicab drivers license, since he has only been a resident of Salina since November 1948 and cannot meet the one year's requirement. Matter was referred to the City 1anager. Albert Schwartz and others, from the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Board of Commissioners, about blocking two 100 blocks on Santa Fe Avenue for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Lay 5th, 6th and 7th, 1949). Corruissioner Price moved that permission be given to block street, and work out details with the City Manager. iuotion adopted. IYurray Wilson of Wilson Lngineering Company, appeared with plans for Sewage Disposal Plant and explained same to Board of Commissioners. Approval withheld until approved plans received from State Board of Health. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to possession and transportation of liquor and limiting the use or uses thereof and providing for the repeal of all ordinances in conflict therewith and in conflict with the provision of an Act entitled Substitute Senate Bill No. 9." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 236, and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 236, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commis- sioners. Applications for Taxicab Drivers License, numbered 66 and 112, presented to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Price applications were approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Application for House Moving Permit was presented from John W. Carney to move a house from 100 Block on South Fourth Street to 119 South Twelfth Street, Wm. Streckfus, owner. Commissioner Stephenson moved that application for route be approved. Lotion adopted. Concrete Construction Bond was presented from Homer ilickell, d/b/a Nickell Construction Company. 6nrmtion of Commissioner Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. motion adopted. Baseball Contract for the year 1949 was presented, and on motion of Commis- sioner Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the paving of Tenth Street from the south line of Harsh Avenue to the south line of Pacific Avenue." On;,otion of Commissioner i`rice the resolution was adopted as read and on its. final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Price and Stephenson (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lindgren and Noyce absent. Layor approved the resolution and it is numbered 1084. On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Price and.Stephenson (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lindgren and Noyce absent. Layor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-455. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Price and Stephenson (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lindgren and Noyce absent. mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-456. Curbing and guttering Grand Avenue from Tenth to Eleventh. Paving Quincy Street from Republic to Beloit. Curbing, guttering and paving Reynolds from North to Lincoln. Paving Jewell Avenue from Ninth to Lleventh. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of Illinois Street from the west line of i Sheridan Street to the east line of Merrill Street, aril for the curbing and gutter- iiig of Illinois Street from the west line of &errill Street to the east line of Hancock Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing and gutteri::g of Grand Avenue from the west line of Tenth Street to the west line of Eleventh Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commis- sioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the curbing and guttering of Reynolds Street from the center line of Lincoln Street to the center line of Broadway Boulevard." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing and guttering of Fifth Street from the north line of Antrim Avenue to the center line of Otis Avenue." A Resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and paving of Reynolds Street from the center line of north Street to the center line of Lincoln Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving of Quincy Street from the south line of Republic Avenue to the north line of Beloit Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Cmmissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving of Jewell Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to the west line of Eleventh Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Com- missioners. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager: Sewer in alley between Eleventh Street and Twelfth Street and Pacific and Hamilton in Military Addition. Paving Eleventh Street from Pacific to Harsh. Curbing, guttering and paving Tenth Street from Woodland to Broadway. Curbing and guttering Kirwi n Avenue from Pershing to Funston.
