The minutes of the H-gular .eeting of February 28, 1949 were read and approved as read. . On motion of Con ,-issioner Boyce, seconded by O;=iissioner ljrice, a resolu- tion be introduced to condemn sidewalk adjacent to Lots 158, 160 and 166 on Fourth Street, Original Torn of Salina, !','ansas (Petition No. 1168). Carried. Dan Bolen appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding petition for taking 'res land into City, (forty-three acres at the Southwest edge of Salina between Lissouri. Pacific Railroad Tracks and U. S. 81 By -.ass.). On motion of Commissioner Stephenson, seconded by Commissioner Lindgren, refer request to County Commissioners as described in his petition. On roll call the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, 1Joyce, trice and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0). Commissioner aoyce moved that property owners be allowed to pave corners of Broadway and Tenth and Broadway and Pacific, subject to City Engineer's specifi- cations. Carried. Commissioner Lindgren moved t hat Building ,4pplication Number 1492, Permit Number 6003, issued to i�ierle L. Forsyth, be approved. Carried. Letter was presented from City Planning Commission, recommending that South 522 feet of Lots 62 and 64, and the East 18.8 feet of the South 52-zD,- feet Lot 66, Ash Street, 'Wilson's Add -tion, be rezoned from Class "A" Residential to Class "B" Residential. I Commissioner Noyce moved that recommendation be accepted by the Board of Commissioners, and that C_�_ty Clerk give thirty days notice in the official City paper of intent to rezone from Class "Alt Residential to Class "B" Residential, the South 52R feet of Lots 62 and 64, and East 18.8 feet of the South 522 feet of Lot 66, Ash Street, '4ilson's Addition, Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted. I Gas Fitters Bond was presented from G. 11. McClellan, d/b/a IucClellan Propane Gas Ser-irice. Comriiissioner Noyce moved that Bond be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Iiotion adopted. Taxicab Drivers Applications numbered 106, 107 and 108 were presented and on motion of Commissioner Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. Petition was presented for street light at the intersection of Ninth and Charles Streets. Referred to the City Lanager. 4. streets: Petitions were presented for curbing and guttering the following FROvT STI -ELT from Republic Avenue to Crawford Avenue, and LINCOLN between Chester and 11rthur. Pet --,tions were referred to the City Manager. Petitions were T)rescrnted fort tie paving of the following streets: HALIILTON AVE NiE from Ninth Street to Eleventh Street, 1200 Block on North ,ighth Street. Petltions were referred t o the City I.ianager. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the calling and holding of an election �f the qualified electors of the City of Salina, iansas, to vote upon the question of authorizing the Board of Commissioners of said City tc issue general obligation bonds of the City in amount of not exceeding :175,000.00 for the purpose of paying the cost :f erecting and equip- ping a public building for such City, to -wit: a public fire station." On motion of Jommissioner Boyce the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and :tephenson (5) gays: (0) Layer approvedthe ordinance and it is numbered 5365• 1 1 1 42i An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Price, Noyce and Stephenson (5) iiays: (0) Ivayor ap_roved the ordinance and it is numbered A-451. Letter was presented from Byron Hough regarding proposed franchise to be granted Kansas Power and Light Company of Salina, Kansas. City Clerk was instruct- ed to acknowledge receipt of letter and file. Carried.
