Leeting was called to order by lvayor Stedham, the roll was called and Commissioners Stedham, Noyce, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Lindgren absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 225, 1948 were read and approved as read. Mr. L. J. Allison, City LIanager read letter from George Knapp regarding meeting) on Flood Control. City Manager instructed to make whatever arrangements neces- sary so City of Salina will be represented. Commissioner Price moved that Audit Contract for the year 1948 be awarded to D. N. Turner for 41450.00. iaotion adopted. Application for taxicab drivers license for the balance of 1948 presented as follows: Richard L. Rose. Commissioner Price moved that application be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. A petition was presented f rom Lloyd Iiorrison for the rezoning of Lots Une (1) to Fifteen (15) inclusive, Block Nine ()), Pacific Addition to "D" Light Industrial District. Referred to City Planning Commission. A petition was presented from E. H. Jilka for the rezoning of Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 on Twelfth Street, Weaver's Addition, to "D" Light industrial. Referred to City Planning Commission. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Co:B truction Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, here- tofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 232 and 233, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Aoyce the ordinance wasi ead and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5354. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creat- ing and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District :Dumber 234, and providing for the construction of a Lateral Sanitary newer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 234, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the propertk in said district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (4) L4ays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren absent. Layor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5356. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the changing of the names of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Stedham, Noyce, Price and Stephens on (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lindgren absent. Layor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5356. Delegation appeared about sidewalk in front of Lot 30, Block 11, Pacific Addition. Commissioner Stephenson made motion to return petition and ask that they circulate one for the sidewalk all along the west side of block. Motion adopted. 40.1 Commissioner Noyce moved that recommendation of City Planning commis- sion for the vacation of that portion of ten -foot alley not already vacated between Fourth and Fifth Streets in Jones Addition, behind Wyatt Mfg. Company Plant, bordering Lots 13, 15 and 17 on Fourth Street,and Lots 19 to 27 inclusive on Fourth Street, and Lots 14 to 28 inclusive on Fifth :street, be accepted, and that ordinance be introduced for first reading. Motion adopted. David Loy appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding option he has to buy Veterans Cab Company. Referred to City Manager.
