Cormr.ssioners Lindgren and Stephenson absent. The minutes of the Board of Commissioners of the Regular meeting of november 15, 1948 were read and approved as read. Applications for taxicab drivers license for theear 1948 y presented as follows Howard D. Ferguson Clarence Rowson Commissioner Noyce moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. i A petition was presented for the construction of a sewer in Blocks two (2) and ten (10) Pacific Addition. Referred to the City i.ianager. A petition was presented for the construction of a sewer to serve all of Lot 45, Wilson's Addition, 200 Block on North Phillips btreet. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District 1Jumber 234, and providing for the con- struction of a Lateral Sanitary Sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District ---urnber 234, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof". Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the rezoning of Lots 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, Block 10, Pacific Addition, to "C" Commercial District. Petition was referred to City Planning Commission. I An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 232 and 233, aria providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Delegation appeared about sidewalk on Lot 30, Block 11, Pacific Addition. City P,anager instructed to contact I.X. Estep and report at next meeting. Tom Olson appeared regarding meeting place for V. F. 41. Drumand Bugle Corps. Referred to City manager. Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending that North Court Place and South Court Place be known as Court Place. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the changing of the names of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioner:.. Letter was r__resented from the City Planning Commission regarding petition of Santa Ee Railroad Company asking that the streets and alleys wriich cross their right-of-way between Second Street and Chester Street, excepting Front Street be vacated, stating they would like to knoiv the reasons why they desire such action. City Clerk was instructed to notify D. C. Coates of the Santa b'e Railway Company. Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending the vacation of that portion of ten foot alley not already vacated between Fourth and Fifth Street in Jones ILdd:ition, behind Wyatt i',anufacturing Company Plant, bordering Lots 1111umber .13, 15 and 17 on North Fourth, and Lots 19to 27 inclusive, on Fourth Street, and Lots 14 to 28 inclusive on North Fifth Street. Commissioner ivoyce moved to table one week. Lotion adopted. 1 1 1 1 Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission, not recommending the rezoning of South 75 feet of Lot 4, and iuorth 75 feet of Lots 6 and 8, on Santa Fe Avenue; and the worth 1/2 of Lot 5, Seventh Street, holland's Adda.tion, to "C" Commercial. Drew rartnett and Dan '�jiegner appeared and Com- miissioner Boyce made motion that petition be referred back to City Planning Com- mission with legal opinion of City Attorney. 1uiotion adopted.
