Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners September 27, 1948. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Stedham, the roll was called and Commissioners 6tedham,
Lindgren, Price, Noyce and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark rbsponded.
The minutes of the Regular meeting of September 20, 1948 were read and approved
as read.
W. S. Norris and othersappeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding
the rezoning of the North 72 feet of Lot 9, on South Ninth Street, Surveyor's Plat
i "A", Salina, Kansas, from Class "B" Residential to Class "C" Commercial.
Commissioner Price moved that lot not be rezoned, and on its final adoption
the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Noyce and
Price (3) Nays: Lindgren and Stephenson (2) Carried.
Walter L. Knight did not appear regarding notice to appear and answer cause
wily his Beer License should not be revoked. Commissioner Stephenson moved that
license be revoked. Carried.
A letter was read from the City Planning Commission regarding petitions for
sidewalks on Claflin, Quincy, Norton and Russell Streets in tree southeast part of
the City.
John Young and others appeared regarding streets, sidewalks and packings on
Norton, Russell, Quincy and Claflin Streets.
Commissioner Noyce moved that Norton, Russell and Quincy Streets be sixty-
five (65) feet wide, and Claflin Street, seventy-five (75) feet wide. Necessary
portion be vacated for this purpose. This motion only for these streets and
to have no bearing on any future development. Carried.
Application for taxicab drivers license presented as follows:

Commissioner Noyce moved that application be approved and license granted.
Motionadopted.
Electrician's Bond presented from A. E. Engborg, and on Motion of Commission-
er Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. Carried.
'lumber and Gas Fitters Bond presented from John Gile, and on motion of
Commissioner Price approved by the Board of Commissioners. Carried.
Petitions were presented for the installation of street lights at the
following locations:
Cloud and Eleventh
Cloud and Ninth
Petitions were referred to the City Manager.
A petition was presented for the curbing and guttering of Fifth Street
from the north line of Antrim to the south line of Otis Avenue. Referred to the City
Manager.
I A petition was presented for the curbing, guttering and paving Seventh
Street from center line of Decatur Street to center line of Grand Avenue. Referred
to the City Manager.
City Engineer filed plans and specifications for the curbing, guttering and/or
paving certain streets provided for in Ordinances Numbered 5338, 5339 and 5340.
Commisbioner Price moved that same be approved by the Board of Commissioners and
City Clerk instructed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including Monday,
October 18th, 1948 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Motion adopted.
A resolution was introduced designating National Bank of "merica as depositary
for Airport Funds."

On motion of 60mmissioner Noyce resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes. Stedham,
Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (5) bays: (0) mayor approved the resolution

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming the respective contracts of H. J. 'Taylor Construction Company
and Charles W. Sheldon for the improvement of the Salina kunicipal Airport of the
City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Noyce the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes. Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce and Price (4) Nays: Stephenson (1) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is numbered 5341.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- _
viding for the condemnation of certain land for public use in the extension of the
kunicipal Airport of the City of Salina, Kansas." i
On motion of Commissioner Noyce the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce and Price (4) Nays: Stephenson (1) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5342.
Airport Lease was presented and on motion of Commissioner i'rice approved by
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
regulating vehicular and pedestrian traffic on certain streets in the City of
Salina, providing for the amendment of Section 2y-1188, hevised Ordinances of the
City of Salina, 1939, and repealing said original section, being Section 48B of
ordinance Number 1953•" Ordinance was referred to the Board. of -ommissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
City Clerk
