08-02-1948 MinutesCOMMISSION RS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONLRS ROOM, SALI NA, KANSAS. AUGUST 2, 1948 Regular Meeting of the Board of Comt:iissioners August 2, 1948. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stedham, the roll was called and Commissioners Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 26, 1948 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230 and 231 as follows: H.J.Taylor Construction Company $14,210.50 L. W. Rexroad & Son 14,703-50 Griffin Construction Company 15029.00 City Engim er's Estimate in the amount of $14,324.00 was read. Commissioner Lindgren moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company, as per bid submitted in the amount of $14,210.50 and that Mayor be authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina for such improve- ments, in accordance with sucn proposal and the form of contract and specifications attached thereto and referred to therein, and City Clerk return checks ot unsuccess- ful bidders. Motion adopted. Chas. W. Sheldon and others appeared before the Board of Commissioners and filed a petition regarding Dump Ground being used on White property at the east end of *psum Avenue. Referred to City Manager. Building Permit Number 1837 presented from John Busboom. Commissioner Lindgren moved to approve plans,_-nd allow building to set on property line. Carried. Petition filed against the C. R. Miller at 901 Merrill Street. Commissioner Price moved to file petition and in event someone tries to occupy the house in its present condition, the City Attorney be instructed to start legal proceedings against such occupancy. Carried. Trust Deed, with a deposit of $100.00 was presented from NMrs. Grace M. Kistler for Seymour, estate. Commissioner Price moved that Deed be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that City Treasurer be instructed to place deposit in the Gypsum hill Cemetery Lot Owners Endowment Fund as provided by Ordinance No. 3530 of the City of Salina, Kansas. Motion adopted. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relat- ing to the curbing and guttering of Claflin Avenue from the west line of Fourth Street to the west line of Osborne Street." On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final -adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) 14ayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 1069. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 63, Resolution Book Number 4. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain Lateral Sanitary Sewer District in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 2320 and pro- viding for the construction of a Lateral Sanitary Sewer in, -said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District No. 232, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll wad called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5328. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-433. 1 1 u 1 F _J 1 1 1 1 1 363 Applications for taxicab license for the last half of 1948 presented as follows: 011ie Dickson Cab No. 41 Veterans Taxi Carl A. Lindgren Cab No. 43 Veterans Taxi Carl 0. Bennett Cab No. 45 Veterans Taxi Alfred Lee Ingram Cab ivo. 47 Veterans Taxi Commissioner Noyce moved that applications be approved and license granted. Motion adopted. Mayor Stedham appointed J. Earl Wyatt, Wm. F. Grosser, Jr. and John Frederick to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain lots and pieces of ground liable to special assessment for the cost of constructing Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 224 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, and 231. Appointments confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
