Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stedham, the roll was called and Commissioners Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. read. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 28, 1948 were read and approved as follows: Applications for taxicab drivers license for the year 1918 presnted as Paul A. Ramsey George Stinnett Commissioner Lindgren moved that application presented from Paul A. Ramsey be approved and license granted. Motionadopted. Commissioner Price moved that application presented from George Stinnett be rejected by the Board of Commissioners. Lotion adopted. Paul Meyers and others appeared about closing of east and west alley from Pershing to north and south alley from Claflin to Kirwin. Commissioner btephenson moved that alley not be closed. .Carried. A communication was presented from Chief of Police, L. H. Lay, concerning revocation of taxicab drivers license No. 97 issued to M. L. Miller, January 31, 1948. Commissioner Price moved that license be revoked. Motion adopted. A letter was presented from Board of Lducation of Salina, Kansas, asking permission to build a 40 x 40 foot addition to frame gymnasium on the central school grounds between the Lincoln and Roosevelt Schools. moved that Building inspector be authorized to issue building permit. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating tothe paving and grading of Ellsworth Avenue from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line of highland Circle." Resolution referred to the Board Of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Highland Circle from the south line of Ellsworth Avenue to the south line of Jewell Avenue." Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating tothe paving and grading of Jewell Avenue from the west line of Eleventh Street tothe west line of Pershing Street." Resolution referred to t he Board of Commissioners. Referred to City Manager. A petition was presented for the curbing and guttering of Claflin Avenue between Fourth Street and Osborne Street. Referred tothe City Manager. A petition was presented for sanitary sewer in alley between bd nneapolis Avenue and Ellsworth Avenue from Osborne to Quincy.' Referred to the City Manager. A petition was presented for paving of alley between Twelfth and Thirteenth Streets from Bishop Street south to south line of Lot 6. Referred to the City Manager. Salina, Kansas. Gentlemen: The construction of swimming pool located at Carver Center under Contract No. 237, dated January 5, 1948, with Brown and Brown, Inc., of Salina, Kansas, has been completed and final inspection made by the Engineering Department. it has been found that this project has been completed in accordance with plans and specifications under said contract and therefore your acceptance of the work is recommended. Respectfully submitted, H. F. Harper City Engineer Commissioner Lindgren moved that report be approved and work accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Lotion.dopted. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution re- lating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Republic tivenue from the east line of Osborne Street to the east line of Quincy Street." On motion of Commissioner Price resolution was approved as read and on its final adoption the roll was:;alled and the following ovte was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Price, Idoyce and Stephenson (5) flays: (0) Mayor approved the resolu- tion and it is numbered 1065. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 59, Resolution Book Number 4. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral Sanitary Sewer District in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 2313 and providing for the construction of a Lateral Sanitary Sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer Dis- trict Number 231, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." On m otion of Commissioner Price tte ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, 14oyce, Price and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) lrayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5322. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the inclusion of certain land in the City of Salina, Kansas in the "C" Commercial District, as that district is defined by Section 5 of Ordinance idumber 3188, and providing for t tie proper uses thereof." On motion of Commissioner Lindgren the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and LItephenson (5) Nays: (0) Layor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5323• An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." Onmotion of Commissioner. Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sec - tions and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stedham, Lindgren, Noyce, Price and Stephenson (5) Nays: (0) T,iayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A -430 - An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance levy- ing special assessment against certain property to pay the cost of constructing water service pipes in certain streets in the City of balina, Kansas." Ordinance was referred tothe Board of Commissioners. A letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending that the North 72 feet of Lot 9, on South Ninth Street, &arveyor's Plat "A" be rezoned from "B" Residential to "C" Commercial. Commissioner Lindgren moved that report be approved by the Board of Commissioners and that the City Clerk give thirty days notice in the official City paper of intent to rezone from "B" Residential to "C" Commercial the North 72 feet of Lot 9, on South Ninth btreet, Surveyor's Plat "A". I+otion adopted. City Engineer filed plans and specifications for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 227, 228, 229 and 230. On motion of Commissioner Lindgren approved by the Board of 6ommissioners. City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 225, 226, 227, 228, 229 and 230, to be received up to and including Monday, August 21 1918 at 7:30 o'clock P. JULY 12, 1948 July Commissioners Jul 12 Special Meeting of the Board. of , 1948. meeting was called to ordc,r by Mayor Stedham, the roll was called and Commissioners Stedham, Lindgren, Price, Noyce and Stephenson and City Attorney Clark responded. Meeting was held for the purpose of acting on the appraisersreports for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers numbered 214, 215, , e 222, 223, and for Main Sewer "W". Commissioner Lindgren moved that reports be adopted as read. Motion adopted. On motion of Commissioner Lindgren the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City C erk
